New beginnings ideas?

Barnsley

I want to do something to symbolise that I'm starting a new chapter in my life, and leaving behind a bad one.

But...

I like my hair, so I don't want to have a drastic new hair change.

I also don't want a tattoo.

Any ideas?

It's almost like a reinvention of my soul.

"Something permanent? "

Well even hair cuts and tattoos aren't necessarily permanent.

I dunno I'm kind of tossing ideas around.

Symbolic jewellery.

Reinvention of wardrobe.

I dunno they seem a bit feeble.

Could you decorate a room in the house? Take up a hobby or class?

Or, cheesy, but take up a new routine or good habit - anything from drinking more water, cutting out added sugar, journalling, having a vegetarian day once a week, taking up running...

Paint a pebble with a meaningful symbol. Varnish it and lay it on the beach for nature to erode naturally.

Change your name? I did that. A very subtle change but it worked for me x

Up on them there hills

Do a sweat lodge, the symbolism behind that is being reborn.

hiding from cock pics.

What about making a mood board with pictures and inspirational quotes of how you want your future to go and how you want this next chapter to pan out.

It would be useful both as a new beginning and as inspiration for your journey.

How about learning a new language or how to play a musical instrument?

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

Apologies up front, im not Willy Wonka so its not gonna be sugar coates....

Go out and push your limits.. do things that you never considered in the past.. white water rafting, hang gliding, rock climbing, scuba diving, join a cookery class, join a Google group, rambling groups, get a new job...

Basically find other interests, make new friends within those groups and challenge yourself..

Doing stuff like that will fill you with trepidation but when it goes well you will feel great about yourself..

Hair, clothes, tattoos, they are all superficial, you will still be you and will slip back into the old monotony of that life you want to put behind you..however a total lifestyle change will make you evolve into the person you could be..

good luck and enjoy the journey..

Okay I've decided...

a new nickname (shortening my name differently to the way it normally gets shortened),

and a phoenix necklace when I can find a nice one

AND new activities (and bringing back long lost ones)

Go on a trip to do something that you never would have done before. Immerse yourself in it.

Get a photographer to take a decent portrait of the "new you" however you look or feel, it becomes a meaningful image that reminds you that there's a story attached to it. Good luck for the future and with what ever you decide to do. Xx
