Something got me thinking today I saw an elderly sleeping on the bus then start to think to myself what do old people think about or dream about? Because to be honest after 65 the need for ambition would have fade away.
Not trying to be offensive, just trying to understand a perspective. |

I don't think ambition would fade away after 65, there are loads of things you can achieve in old age. For instance you can do knitting, sewing, basket weaving, cake making, all highly competitive activities.
Also have you not heard of the OAP swinging club down south for the Zimmer frame afflicted 65 year olds? XXX |

Every stick has two ends, for some the pivot is a value like ambition, other lack of knowledge or even skewed judgement.

I am 51 today..
Guess I will now be considered on the wrong side of young.
My brain thinks of all sorts.
I read books, get out places, listen to house music, occasionally go out raving to old Skool nights, I play on my Xbox one, and when I see a younger hottie it still turns my head.
Until I get altzeimers I can't see my thought processes changing |

My brother is 68 and still climbs mountains most weekends. He doesn't let his age stop him from doing what he enjoys or trying new things. I'm quite proud of him |

In the 4 years since I turned 65 I have been working on the very long list of things I wanted to do, that I could not find the time for when I was working.

Im 63. I probably have sex more often than most people , if not all, on this thread.
I work full time/long hourse
I am in excellent health.
I socialise frequently.
I have children and grandchildren.
I swim. Cook. Clean. Write. Attend meetings of various kinds. Repair my house.....
List is fooking endless.
Where do you all get off with calling people in their sixties.... ELDERLY . ?

I agree.
I work with elderly people and the "younguns" among them are in their late 70's.
I'm not "old" by any means but the old - er I get I realise the cliche that many things only become apparent with age.
The "elderly" person you saw on the bus was probably exhausted lol!

Well..my wife is 66 and has a lover..I'm 62 and also have a regular 3 sum..my wife's lover sometimes stays over and I go into the middle bedroom..60 is the new 40, and we know a lot of people our age who are married and sexualy active with others. |

Insulting and stupid remark. As a couple in the 'old' bracket we lead an active and varied life, travelling the world, not worrying about getting up at 6am to go to work, having fun with like minded people, obviously steering clear of bigots and ageists. We enjoyed the sixties but having so much more fun now sexwise. |

69 now, still very fit and horny as ever.
Play golf, swim, cycle and go fishing.
Do building and all types of diy for family and friends free of charge.
Help older grandkids with their uni work and provide free babysitting for the younger ones.
Look forward to holidays every year.
What more could I want to look forward too! |

When I was ten, teenagers were old people. As a teenager, the thought of becoming 30 was scary. At 30, life was just getting going. Turning 40 was fun, all night party with 200 friends. 50, new career, new challenges. 60...still moving forward. Change of career, city, more travel. My mum keeps reminding me that I should be retired (thank you UK Pensions for pushing that dream six years in the future).When I was a kid, old ladies wore wrinkly stockings and pinnies. These days age is just a number. Great to hear all the positive 'elderly' people on here and I just hope the negative 'younger' ones can cope with their dreary old age. |

when your old nobody gives a shit. There’s not much help for the elderly unless you have money to pay for 15 minute visits where they only cook a microwave meal or make a cuppa and leave. Social workers are so stretched they never have time to visit and trying to get the simplest of things can be a nightmare. I’m currently looking after a dying parent and without the help of the Nhs he would have gone years ago. It’s a lonely lonely existence. My advise is, make sure you keep yourselves fit as long as you can. Make sure you have money for your old age, don’t rely on the state pension. |

Hate to be a dream breaker age is not a number age comes with experience, interest, likely similarities, culture, perspective on things, life, music taste, and much more, of course, there are also people from different generations that will get along and disprove age being a number. like me, I feel I get along well with people older than me than my age group. |

At 58 I'm starting a whole new adventure. Moving to a new area where I will know no one and I can't wait. I want to explore new places and make new friends. Life doesn't end just because you get older.

Exactly. Or to put it another way, our minds don't get old, it is poor health that limits what we can do. Of course, young people can suffer poor health, but it becomes more likely as one gets older.
My father was active until within a few months of his death at 77. He compiled examination papers for national examining bodies and co-ordinated the marking. He ran a small mail-order business and he was active in the Church, even running 4 parishes more-or-less single-handed for a while. He retired at age 54 so he could do what he really wanted. |

When I was younger I used to look at 'older' people and wonder how they felt, and what it would feel like to be old myself. Now I've reached the age of 61 I have surprised myself to realise that, as I get older, I actually don't feel any different. I'm still the same person I always was, just a little smarter. |

We love being this age and retired. We wake up in the morning and say, what shall we do today, anything we want to ! Several holidays a year, some swinging holidays, others Greek islands. Cruising round the country in our open top sports car. Just messing about in the garden. Glad we retired early, so we can enjoy each other's company! |

At 71 I still have the mind of a 21yr old.Im still piss proud when I wake up in the morning.I regularly wank weekly,still get a hard on seeing a sexy woman or a mans hard on.The only thing that changes is you run out of energy quicker. |

I'm 58, just retired, house is on the market, looking to relocate to East Anglia. New puppy to train (yes, do mean a dog !).
With age comes experience......looking to share that experience around

Ok, thanks for that. I know its a typical reply, but you too will be old one day and its not as scary as you think! We have a great life and thank our lucky stars, that although we have some medical issues(not age related!) We can still lead a fun and fulfilling lifestyle! |
