Be good or be yourself?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

When your online, are you aware of what mood your in? More importantly do you think what type of vibe your setting when your posting on threads. example - you might go out of your way posting in a cheery way, making yourself seem welcoming, and setting the tone of the forum, although your not feeling great yourself.

Positive attracts positivity doesn't it?

Does the forum ever change your mood? Maybe your here having a laugh but others are posting in a way that brings you down? How would you react if you notice it?

I post however my brain tells me to. As I'm not much good at being a cunt it's usually not upsetting to anyone, I think. If there's lots of negative stuff, or arguing on here I go and play Angry Birds on my phone instead.

Fortunately I'm always pretty positive so post that way. Anything that's negative I tend to ignore.

I sometimes have to take a step back from posting negative or rude things. My mood does affect how I am.

Hmm, yes I do seem to post with a positive spin on things. I suppose I try and keep things happy even if I'm not feeling that way myself, I think to attract that good feeling from others.

And sometimes when there's a lot of negativity it does affect me, and I have to scroll on past and do something else to lift my mood x

It's not really my mood, it's normally others moods that change me.

'Go with the flow' isn't a great trait online.

I really don't think that hard about my posts on the forum. To me they are a form of entertainment and have very little to no impact on my life so mood doesn't really come into it. if I'm in a bad mood then i tend not to want to interact with anyone.

I guess if my life revolved around the forums I might feel differently but I struggle to see how anything said by strangers on the internet will affect my mood.

Generally I try to be happy where I can but the place can affect my mood. I used to hate Fridays on here when I first found the forum as everyone was banging on about the meets they had planned and the clubs they were going to and I was sat there with no interest whatsoever. Then I grew a pair and now it doesn’t bother me - especially now

If it’s becoming negative then I tend to step away as it isn’t worth it. It’s lead me to being a bit spiky in the past so I stop myself now.

^ pretty much this.

If I was in a low or grumpy mood, which rarely happens, then I would steer clear of Fab.

Hiding in the shadows

I'm a positive person, I believe everything happens for a reason, even if it not good at the time there is always a positive side to every situation if you look for it.

My friends call me the irritatingly happy one.

I think it's difficult if you don't know someone. Emotions can get lost in translation and things said can easily be taken the wrong way although, most of the time it's easy to tell if someone is being humorous or serious or even grumpy! I tend to avoid a thread with a bad vibe, unless I feel I can say something positive that will lighten the mood or, cheer a person up. The posts don't usually effect the way I feel though and if they did, there are plenty that would cheer me up again.

There's those thread subjects I intentionally avoid too. You just know what direction they'll go in.

But don't we also say 'let people do what they want online'? Why do we feel we should try to change them?

(I'm just trying to see it from a different angle)

If I'm in a really bad mood or feeling really low, then the last place I'd be is on Fab. I'm unlikely to want to interact with anybody in any form.

If the forums are particularly negative or bitchy, then I buggar off and do something else. I've enough drama of my own.

I mostly find the Forums to be hilarious with doses of drama here and there. I'm rarely in a bad mood and tend to post daft comments that reflect my sense of humour but I will get involved with serious topics if I've something meaningful to add. Some of the antics have me rolling my eyes but I just don't get involved in those. Nothing to do with my mood, more that I ain't getting involved in some stuff.

I just post the way I want without giving too much thought to it (unless it's potentially very negative). I don't change to please others and the mood of this place rarely affects me.

It's easy enough to read the oddity of tone when someone is posting in a 'positive' mannner but not necessarily feeling so - their voice doesn't read true and it just reads in an incredibly jarring fashion. I like seeing the odd slip ups of those posters though!

Topic wise, only one thread has ever upset me enough to raise a virtual finger to everyone & bugger off for a few weeks ~ still I learnt from that experience and it ain't happened again.

Now I'm wondering what thread it is!

As to the OP, nah. My mood influences how/if I post but (similar to the post above) I can only think of a single time I was affected by a thread.

I like positivity and hope that on the whole my messages are in quite a happy tone.

I try not to display too much negativity and if I feel naffed off or don't feel there is anything to add I keep it to myself and off the forums.

For me always be yourself anything else is a bit fake. Nothing wrong with disagreeing with others on here either as long as it doesn't turn into a nasty slagging match and take over the entire thread. I think you can be positive and happy all the time as well if you want it's up to the individual member and what they like to get out of the forum.

Yes, some things are definitely best avoided.

Absolutely live and let live. Wouldn't want to change anyone. It can some times be quite amusing to just sit back and watch as things unfold

I don't like to see people upset and hurt though. Most people don't deserve to feel like that and I guess it's just in my nature to want to try and cheer or reassure them.

Obviously there are some that can just fuck right off though!

Always good to try and see things from others points of view.
