"i thought it was just me that thought he was hopelessly out of his depth......please god he wont be commentating on the Olympics"
BBC have exclusive coverage of the Olympics, so you wont see him on that. I think Channel 4 got the rights for the current world championship as they will be covering the paraolympics next year.
I guess they put him as presenter to appeal to a younger audience, but he just comes across as not knowing what he is talking about, and looks like he has done any research, and so looks amateurish. Ive heard Jeff Stelling on soccer saturday on sky, does 2 days research before his show on saturdays, and it shows. |

Stelling IS Mr. Saturday..pure class"
Totally agree Saturday wouldn't be Saturday with Jeff......I feel good!
The other guy from C4 that was actually painful, I could watch the whole thing! |

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else |
In fairness, it's not easy to react to 3 people screaming in your ear while speaking normally and coherently.
They could have given him an autocue, minimised the directions in his ear, etc.
Although his inability to think on his feet would still have seeped through, I think! |

it certainly has given me a greater respect for what the bbc do with there athletics coverage now...
The actual commentators are quite good... always respected john rawling and katherine merry.... but the presenting is awful... in those bits i now flick across to Eurosport's coverage |

The coverage by C4 is atrocious. To be fair I've only watched the highlights shows but Christ the presenter is dull and the editing is child-like!
This is the highlights show! They have time to put it together! But events run into each other and bits are missing, TV ads come on without warning. Sheeeeeeet! |

In terms of talking in the ear, should really only have the director, who would brief them on any last minute changes and another person doing countdowns, e.g. to advert break.
Research or a keen interest in a subject appears to have been lacking. |
