The postal delivery people around this area obviously missed the memo about returning the elastic bands used to segregate the street mail in their bags .....
Out streets are littered with 1000's of discarded rubber bands..... |

They don't do that round here but at our previous address they used to just drop them anywhere, even on our doorstep.
I'm quite annoyed because I have to buy my own elastic bands now. |

try and speak to him if you can catch him..we had this problem at our last flat, and once we managed to catch him to speak to, he explained that his sorting office had been told to ignore notes like that as so many people were making claims for lost/stolen goods that had been left..after that he was ok with leaving stuff for us, but if another postie was covering etc, we had to go and collect packages..i also know of someone who routinely orders stuff and falsely claims it's been nicked so i guess its hard for them now.. |

That's right they even drop them right outside you door....
I'd rather they posted them through my letterbox |

It's quite inconsiderate of them really.
I've also found that they are of poor quality. The ones I have left have perished. Do you think I'm justified in making a complaint and asking for compensation? |

i get one or two on the drive or lawn - means they walk across as opposed to walking round |

I caught the postman putting a card under the door without the parcel in their possession. They do this so you'll come collect it yourself from the depot. I no longer trust Royal Mail with important deliveries. |

This isn’t sounding great, you’ve purchased a knife sharpener and you’re going to nab the postman |

The card you got through your door is a p739,if there is no box to tick that states(leave round the back) then they are within their rights to take it back to the office,do you know how many posties get accused of stealing parcels if they go missing |

I have great sympathy for my postie.... He can no longer make eye contact with me if we pass in the road due to many incidents which include catching me clumping at high speed across my yard clad only in a tshirt and wellies, my bare ass winking at him with every stride.... Poor postie... |

What about parcels sent recorded delivery where a signature is required?
Most of my stuff off ebay is sent this way, as I'm at work most of the time I always have to collect it from the local sorting office. At least I know I'll get it though. |

My advice would be ring the office and tell them you want it delivering round the back, the will want it in writing and signed to make it official, writing on a parcel"please leave round back"is not official,i do understand that a postie on the same route everyday gets to know where certain customers want there parcels leaving, but alas a new postie is within his rights to take it back |

I was a christmas temporary postie when I was a student. I was nearly 19 and 5ft at most. They paired me with a 6ft guy and gave me a round that was at the top of a really steep hill .
One day I merrily delivered all the letters to a street and knocked on a door towards the end with a parcel. The woman said "this isn't for me, its for the next street along" I'd delivered all the mail to the wrong street .
The worst things were letter boxes in the very bottom of the door and letter boxes like mouse traps springing shut on cold fingers. |
