Why say 'treat this couple/person with respect?

So many verifications say this. 'Treat this couple/person with respect'. Why write that? Surely it goes without saying that we should treat everyone with respect.
Do they generally not treat people with respect, but feel that the recipient/s are a case for special pleading?
Do they think we generally treat people disrespectfully?
Or are they struggling for something to write and saw someone else put it?
They could equally say, 'remember to breathe when you meet this couple/person'.
If anyone reading this used that phrase, could you please explain the logic? |

Because it’s part of the site rules that you have to use certain cliches when you write a verification
Treat them with respect.
I want to keep them to myself.
Sucks like a dyson.

Not used it but had it used in my own veris. I questioned it like yourself.
I think it had something to do with his disrespectful some people can be on here, not to mention rude. |

Totally agree - it's a bit of a meaningless phrase. I think it's probably intended to be complimentary but the author hasn't thought things through ... I always wonder how the recipient(s) of other veris may feel if the 'respect' thing hasn't also been written for them? As in, they don't deserve to be respected apparently but someone else does.
Another variation is along the lines of 'treat them with respect or you'll have me to answer to' Really ?? |

I think it's just one of those things you say to be nice. If your having a genuine social meet. I'ts quite easy to put good company, good laugh or something similar. If you have just had a mind blowing session its more difficuilt to write something different without being too graphic. |

Most verifications are either blandly meaningless and vague or stunningly explicit and specific. What do people really expect others to write?
Sometimes I wonder if people on fab would be happier if all our veris went through double-blind peer-review. |
