Thought I'd break it down to answer each point in turn OP:

I can't speak for all of them, but for the majority I guess because they're looking for mutually satisfying sexual experiences with men and women that they form an attraction to, as well as a connection and chemistry through finding decent well written profiles and pictures and who are able to exchange well thought out messages that engage them.
