Samsung - Simple, straightforward, reasonably priced & great picture quality.

Stick with a well known brand! Other than that, good luck it's a mine field. Distance you view from should be taken into consideration as regards the screen size. Trying to decipher all the other stuff and compare!!!

SAMSUNG UE40MU6400U 40" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV

Brilliant picture but might need a soundbar if it's going into a large room. Samsungs are actually well known now for their high quality picture.

It must be one that's a few years old or, some dodgy settings?

If you look on somewhere like AVFORUMS, there's a specific area where people ask for TV recommendations. Best value for money are usually Samsung or something like Hisense. LG are ok but, not true 4K (fake) if you can call it that.

Panasonic 4k TV can't go wrong. My advice.. Go to John Lewis.. Talk to a salesman then go home and find the model online or buy from JL. You want to have wifi, good USB connections and Hdmi. Work on £10 per inch but you could get a good one for just over £300

What sort of signal supply do you have ?

Is it Cable or Satellite dish or Arial because its rare but the reception can vary depending on the location of your property
