There were a few of the usual suspects (Debbie Harry, Kate Bush, Kim Wilde etc) but the three that I can vividly remember occupying my teenage thoughts in that way more than any others were:
Joanna Lumley in her Purdey from the New Avengers era - visited Pinewood Studios where it was filmed once and dreaded bumping into her as I was with a rather overbearing Uncle who would have taken great joy in telling her to my embarrassment.
Florrie Digger (Blousey Brown from Bugsy Malone) was a short lived thing but can remember for weeks after just being consumed by thoughts of her - and before anyone says anything - at the time we would have been about the same age (14 or 15) and the thoughts were not sexual.
Cathy Hargreaves (Lindy Brill) from Grange Hill - was probably no different from fancying any other girl from school just she happened to be on telly!! |

Schoolboy crushes tended to focus on anyone female, as the hormones were triggered by even the faintest smile, eye contact or wave. Maybe I was easily pleased?!
Always kept an eye on Elizabeth Schue (Karate Kid, blondie) for some reason! |

Yes and apparently I talk posh as well, even if I am originally from Barnsley. People look at me funny when I tell them that, I then add that I am from the posh end ducking Mrs T right hook as I say it |
