every year i put fresh out of the skin conkers in various places to keep out the enemy spiders - usually works pretty well apart from the odd one or two - this year so far had about a dozen of those massive brown spiders - 3 of which came in tonight to watch victoria with me - cheeky buggers |

I love the spider season, it saves me a fortune in cat food....
Although it is rather disgusting when the cat jumps on the sofa while still munching on a massive spider it's caught in the back room.. |

I hate Spiders, We've had four this weekend, when they were in the bath I was pleasantly surprised just how calm I felt, but two in the living room this evening and I feel I'm on the verge of a panic attack

I tried the exact same thing (on a tip off), and it didn't worked either OP. I was going to post something a few weeks ago but was too scarred, as something the size of my hand got cracked in my bedroom with the sole of my shoe. Horrid, ghastly shit that I am still amazed by. |

On a different site, I'm told peppermint spray puts spiders off. Spray it around your windows, doors and air vent frames.
No idea if it works. Haven't yet personally tried it. |

I'm still amazed that this is supppsed to work. But I've never seen a spider in a conked tree, so Maybe it does.

I have a theory why these spiders are becoming more popular in our homes.
They do t like the oil found on conkers (older dryer con lets don't have any effect). Oily wood would do the same thing repelling spiders apparently. And because we're more likely to shop at IKEA and purchase flat pack furniture made from mdf or it's vaneer, there's fewer wood (or the oil) that would have been in our homes years ago. |

Aww fuck, why did I open this thread? It's made me look and there's a bloody spider party going on in the corner above my desk with *six* of the buggers on the ceiling - two of which are revoltingly waving their legs about urrggghh. Luckily I have a cat asleep on my lap so I'll throw him at them if they start abseiling towards me |

Tis the season if the wolf spider, who spins a thread and is carried by the breeze, hither and thither! I had to remove one from my next door neighbours bath tub when her husband was away, and freaked out her little daughter by pretending to eat it.
They're a lot better to pick up and release out of the window than the frog I caught in my shed. He wriggled and wiggled prodidgiously! |
