"Jesus"

He certainly had a meteoric rise to fame didn't he. From a lowly carpenter's son, to revolutionary, to Saviour of the World. Did a bit of magic along the way too. Quite a chap.

~

I'd put Julius Ceasar, and Cleopatra in that bracket too. Leonardo Da Vinci also. And Shakespeare.

To be fair to Sellers much of the allegations regarding his personal bad traits came out after his death....and well after he could give his side of the story.

I take half of what I read in books by former friends and relatives of dead stars....halve it again, and then don't believe all of what is left.

Books by those left behind make enormous amounts of money....and is often the subject of much conjecture.

Film stars,Musicians,Artists,in fact everyone with the exception of Jesus (who may or may not be fictional) tend not to be too busy after they're dead

With that in mind how can someone be greater after they're dead?

Artists (painters, sculptors etc) only gain greater status after they are dead because the value of their work goes up which is purely down to the fact that they are not alive to create anymore.

"Jesus never existed though.."

I believe he did exist, but he was no more than an inspirational pacifist revolutionary. He was not famous at all at the time of his death and I doubt many would have paid much notice of the event apart from his followers.

If you compare it to today, it's like Joe Bloggs from the next town who said a few good things but never really amounted to much. Would he be given a huge lavish funeral as befitting a visionary leader of his times?

Yet his message may live on after his death and others pick up on it and realise he was someone important - so you create the facts to back it up.

That's who Jesus was, in my opinion.

Why would God need to test the faith of his flock when he can simply zap the crap out of them with a giant tripod from a golden cloud in the sky sitting astride a 500 foot unicorn?

If God appeared like that in the sky over our house I'd be thinking, "ok God, you made ya point. I Believe!!"

I’d also state a case for the greatness of the much lamented stagecraft and musical legacy left by Freddie Mercury ….

now although he's not my cup of tea,,,

I’d find it hard to argue against, due in no small part to vacuous space left since his death regards anyone being good enough to take away his mantel of being a truly outstanding fronts-man…..

Admittedly there are others who also command great stage presence… but very few reach anywhere near the levels of outstanding preformance's that geezer usually did….

Bill Hicks was great when alive, hence the documentary recently show us that and how sad it is he is gone.

Eva cassidy was doing her style of music when that style was'nt in fashion, it became good again coincidently when she died.

"Jesus never existed though..

That's who Jesus was, in my opinion."

It takes a devoted Atheist to say "random fluctuations in the space-time continuum" when they stub their toe.
