What does receiving a wink mean to you
Jump to: Newest in thread
Someone is showing some interest, though it may not be sexual - I understand that a lot of single guys can feel that sending tons of messages can be frustrating, so I like to acknowledge their interest when they've winked, as they can feel that they won't get a message ignored.
Other times people want friendship etc. Test the water. |

Thanks for your responses. In my case I send a wink to let someone know I like them and if they wink back I know to message them which seems to be working out. I do this because I know women/couples get 100's of unwanted messages everyday and I don't want to add to that. I can see why it might look lazy though it's not always the case |

"A wink means there to bone idol to write a message.I don't even bother looking at my winks."
But I thought getting loads of messages is irritating. I've been told that winking would signal interest without annoying the recipeant.
The fact that you can only wink at someone once every 30 or so days makes it near useless for anything except breaking the ice... |

I accept winks and I send them.
It's not lazy, it's a way of letting someone know you're interested without bombarding them with messages!
I treat them in a similar way to messages. I look at the profile, if I like what I see/read then I wink back and see if they send a message. |

I've found that winking as a single guy is deemed a lazy act, and have been told so too.
However I also have a couples profile, from which winking is perfectly acceptable.
It would seem that there is a hierarchy of acceptance with winking on Fab:
Single M - don't wink, make more effort and craft a message
Couple (MM) - don't wink, should craft a message as you're still guys
Couple (MF) - it's acceptable to wink at other MF couples and single F to show interest, getting one in return means it's ok to message them
Couple (FF) - have never had a wink from an FF couple, nor sent one from my couples profile so have no idea what is/isn't acceptable here.
TV/TS - I suspect the protocol and expectation is much like that for Single Guys, but don't hold me to it
Single F - can do what ever she likes
Now all of the above is based on my experiences of Fab over the years, and most probably needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.
I love receiving winks from couples and single women and I love sending them from my couples profile as a way of showing an interest in someone. But I do think it's a shame that when single guys do it, it gets classed as a lazy act. |

I don't mind getting a wink. I don't acknowledge them though unless I want to meet the person.
People wink from the other end of the country so I just take it with a pinch of salt.
I wink my friends often. |

For me I'm guessing that for the majority or single women and couples winks are tedious as they get so many and as others have said the bulk deletie or don't even look at winks.....I get this!!
For me as a genuine guy winks are nice, but only get one or two a month if lucky. Maybe if was getting the 100's & 1000's so say they getbid think differently. |

I guess it means they've seen something they like but not enough for it to warrant sending a message. I've never really understood the point of 'winking'. Sure, it's kind of nice to be winked at but ultimately it's pointless. |

We like the wink system, we use it all the time. I know other couples that like it and others that just think its lazy. A wink to us shows us the other people might be interested in us. we will have a nose at their profile and if we like it. We normally wink back and send a message. |

This is right, I'm sure couples and females get replies to most of their messages, for guys it's different ! You might get one reply in 20 ! It's not lazy winking, I spend loads of time writing more that just a 'one liner' and then most get deleted without even being read ! for me a wink is letting someone know I like them, if they wink back, I message with a face pic etc ! Even then they deleted without being read ! Lol. Rich |
