It's a vegetable fruit. Anything with a pip or seed is a fruit.

a quandary, could you change my mind?

I know it's meant to be a Fruit, I always think of a fruit as something I would eat on its own. I very rarely would eat a tomato on its own and think of it as a vegetable.

Botanically, if its got seeds, its a fruit.

But with some decent olive oil and black pepper, who cares what it is!

Yep, as are squashes.

And strawberries are not fruit, as their seeds are on the outside.

it's a salad made of fruit, or just a salad.

scientifically they are classed as fruits but for catering they wouldn't be.

Botanically tomatoes are fruits, I,d like to call them vegy fruits, According to

The concise oxford dictionary of botany, A fruit is defined as "strictly, The ripened ovary of a plant and its contents more loosely, the term is extended to the ripened ovary and seeds together with any structure with which they are combined.

Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.

Nout to do with seeds, many veg have internal seeds... cucumber, peppers, pumpkin, squash etc

If it grows on a herbaceous plant it's a vegetable, if it grows on a woody plant it's a fruit.

Essex.

There's a healthy looking tomato plant growing at my local train station, looks like cherry tomatoes.

Unfortunately it's growing between the tracks where people have flushed the toilet...

Think I can guess where the seeds came from...

A tomato may be legally classed as a fruit but, would you eat it with custard?

That's the real acid test.
