As you are 5 foot 7 at 2.5 inch loss every 3 years means by the time you're an old lady you will only be a foot tall  |

More likely most of it is reversible - intervertebral disc compression due to gravity during the day and hydration cause some shrinkage on a daily basis, so you should be taller first thing than at night.
Vertebral bodies can also compress or collapse so if you seriously have lost that much height it might be worth seeing your GP for spinal imaging. |

I have a bad knee and hip but the doc just keeps giveing me pain killeres and says that its down to the gymnastics that i did when i was younger |

"I had a titanium implant in my spine which caused me to be half an inch taller. I now stagger about at a willowy 5ft 1. 
I think shrinking that much needs investigation though."
Im at the docs in a fortnight so will ask him , ouch implant sound painfull xx |

i can have an op to fix two discs together but its not a guarantee i will be pain free after that - so im opting out for now and just keep on the strong meds - wont give me any inches back though but not bothered over that one jot |

ive had steroid injections in my spine - with me they hurt like hell for a week or two and settle after a couple of months and then i can handle it with pain relief - ive had 2 lots of jabs so far - think there is a limit to how many you can have - |

it is when its sore - i can have an op but its major and will mean 3 months of work - will leave a massive scar and wont guarantee pain free so im putting up with for now -- im tough  |

some fusion of discs but the damage is on the inside of the spine so they will go in from the front of me - so large cut top to bottom of my belly area apparently - dont fancy the scar just yet and with no guarantee of being pain free just too much of a risk - i heal slowly from stuff like that so just avoiding |
