My first ever pet Sooty, black Moggy with white paws lived till he was 22. He got a cactus thorn stuck in his throat and the vet said he was too old to operate on and wouldn't make it so he was put to sleep |

My oldest cat was 16 when he was PTS. Most of mine seem to get to 14 or 15 and then are struck with kidney problems though my grandma had a cat which lived until 21. |

Our old girl was nearly 21 when we lost her. She was struggling to eat and when we took her to the vets they found a tumour under her tongue. They couldn't operate due to her age and the fact she had a heart murmer so she was put to sleep. |

32 is an amazing age when you consider there's around 5 cat years to 1 human year. My cat is 10 and he's got a thyroid condition, which requires medication for life and that's keeping him in fine form. |

I start to worry more about mine as they age. Polly is my oldest and is now nearly 14 so getting on a bit. She's in great health but I do keep a very close eye on her so that if there are any signs of illness we can nip it in the bud quickly.
Saying that though, our youngest who is 7.5 has needed more vet treatment in her life than the other three put together. She's been a cone head for 3 weeks after getting a nasty bite on her cheek. The vets bills have come to about 30 quid over the insurance excess so it's not really worth the hassle of a claim |
