Who can remember the old days of Chivalry, where manners cost nothing and generally being polite instead of being up ones own derriere with self importance?
Maybe its an age thing but it seem to be lost on some people. |

It's still ingrained in a lot of people's minds, however due to society in general nowadays, most kids aren't taught to respect their elders. I can't see things changing in the short term unfortunately. |

Hello youngster here,
As much I would love to accept the blame for the lack of respect in the world, people blaming generations do no favours to the conversation, personally I think it's down the the devide between the last two generations.
Regardless, I try to be respectful towards everyone until someone gives me a reason not to |

I think you notice the lack of it more as you get older
People of all ages seem to lack manners it's not a particular age group
You're welcome |

one example that really makes me realise the difference a generation has made is - we used to all go out on our bikes to the park - maybe a few butties and a bottle of cordial made up - house keys and maybe ice cream money all slung in a bag over the handle bars - get to the park and all pile the bikes on the ground - go off and play for hours and come back and nothing would have been touched - today kids get pushed off their bikes whilst they are still on them and then others take the bike and fk off with it - cann ot tell you how angry this makes me |

Those days are still present days. They still exist.
Some people never had it in those days just like in the present days.
In other words:
Nothing has changed |

I work beside a lovely group of people and in an organisation where it's very respectful to each other.
Can't say the same once I step outside though. Busy streets with people pushing past, on their phones and not looking where they are going. |

Yeah, but some people bag up their dog mess and then sling it into the nearest tree |

Ive got tonnes of respect for both younger and older people. Was be aught up with manners not sure about it being a generation thing. Having lived in London though it's hard to keep respecting people. When people can't even greet each other good morning without it seeming like something dodgy is about to happen. |

I was brought up with respect and still see it in some of the younger generation most of the rudeness I see seems to be caused by peer pressure from the few who were dragged up!
But we can never blame the younger generations for poor manners as it's our generation that brought them up and taught them manners or not
I was brought up in the country when first moved to the city loved saying good morning to strangers on the way to work was totally alien to most lol |

I can barely remember last week, never mind when you try to picture a time that was filmed in black and white.
Do you mean standing up for a woman to sit down, or holding doors? Or just please and thank you?
Basic manners and chivalry is completely different. |

I don't sadly because I'm not old and missed the golden age.
I grew up in a feral world and have yet to hear any manners or politeness or see any good deeds done by those of my generation.
We are not worthy to be the next generation O Great Oldies. |
