Over the roundabout and then turn right. |
Instead of a home town some profiles have made-up places as their location. I understand that some people don't want to reveal where they live but does this put you off making contact or make you more curious? |

Yeah I'm not the sort of person whose attention is captured by ambiguity .....
I think being intentionally evasive about reviling relevant information is unimaginative and a potential precursor to wasting time.....
Fuck me....... sometimes being me makes my head hurt |

I've tried humourous place names instead of my home town in the past, but I don't think it made a jot of difference to people looking at my profile, as when they see the actual distance in miles, they just write me off anyway. 'No-Fabsland' was my favourite |

"I don't get why people do it but it doesn't bother me.
There profile tells me how many miles away they are anyway "
Does that still work if the person has registered their profile in a area that doesn't represent their real location ? |

If they have there mobile location on it does. But if they have there location set to somewhere else they probably wouldn't show up on my searches anyway
Their loss I'm sure |

Ah Ok .... I don't access the site with a mobile so the mileage function not something I've noticed ...
But I standby my belief that intentional ambiguity detracts from effectiveness of the site for all members .....
I don't want to risk wasting my time communicating with anyone from laa-laa land ....... |

Often the users of such unclear locations post that they can't get meets. It's one deterrent for me. It doesn't shout that the user is particularly focused on your needs.
I understand it being used by those who are cautious or just not meeting |

My location isn't neccesarily fixed. I did set it to 60% Belfast/20% London/20% elsewhere, but here and there covers it better. I trust Fab Magic to tell people if I am close using the postcode feature |

It can be a nuisance. The poster who mentioned distance being listed is correct, but that doesn't always help, some places of similar distance are much harder to get to, depends on motorways etc and also can be handy to know if they are in the location of a club you may be visiting.
I think people should just put the actual location, if they are actively looking for meets. |

I find it irritating if it is totally ambiguous. |

"I wouldn't rely on the site location thingy. It thinks I'm 50 miles from somewhere in Manchester when in fact I'm in Ireland. "
Did you put a Manc postcode? |

As long as it remains within site rules, I'll put wherever I like as my location.
If people decide not to meet someone based on a location then that's up to them but it doesn't worry me |

As of today I realise that here and there isn't helpful at all. So rather than making up a place, I am going to move to places that are made up instead.
You'll find me in Camberwick Green for the next 24 hours |

The best ones are those that say something like 'Fuckville' and then in the profile have a little rant along the lines of 'don't waste my time if you're a hundred miles away, lol'
Now how the fuck do you judge that? |

"Some of the places can be quite funny, but don't mind what others use, I choose to be boring and use my actual location, helpful if I get lost and can be returned to the correct city at least "
You could go full Paddington with a label saying "Please look after this swinger" |

I never have my phone's location switched on. The location stated on my profile isn't my home town. I wrote what I have because..
1) As a genuine single woman I take my safety seriously. I do not think it wise to tell a guy I've never met from a sex based site, my address.
2) As a single parent, I respect the fact this is my child's home (and their right to safety within their own home), by NEVER accommodating.
3) I travel to the guy at my expense so anyone who I talk with, has no need for my location or address. |

From part of your post code which you have to put on your profile settings. You also would come up on people's newsfeed. When that happens, you're usually local or within the travel distance they're looking for. |
