I suppose anything on a profile that fails to capture the interest of other members to a point they wouldn't meet you is safe sex ...
Do you catch my drift,,,, |

"[std removed by anti-biotic at 14/09/17 02:39:56]
I always think safe sex on here = no bb sex"
I think what the op is suggesting is if that is actually enough to say you play safe. If Durex is tonne quoted. Yes. |

In reality life is inherently unsafe, being alive carries the risk of not living through the day.
If I decide to put my todger inside a groin area orifice of a person I have just met, while riding a unicycle on a tightrope over shark infested custard. I choose to wear a condom and call it safe sex.

"what is the point of putting "safe sex only",on your profile if you are also going to perform oral sex ? " because it means they only want sex with a condom on but I'm sure you already know that .that's like me saying it's safe to cross the road but some numpty says "ah but what if a plane falls on top of you" |

"The only true safe sex, is to not have sex.
Even wanking comes with injury risk, making it unsafe. "
Yes that's true, my former FWB has wanked so much watching porn, that he can no longer cum inside a woman or during real sex. This worries him a great deal .So for him wanking wasn't safe sex.XXX

I strongly suspect that the term safe sex had a lot more to do with the contraceptive properties of wearing condoms, the reduction of STI risk is a side benefit that we enjoy.
Interaction of an intimate nature especially where bodily fluids are mixed carries a risk. Oral sex as long as there are no open wounds means that any germs have a fairly large chance of being dissolved in acid long before they have a chance to penetrate membranes and cause infection, though anyone who has ever caught a cold will know there are risks.
Choices have to be made, what risk level do you accept? |

That is nonsense, HIV is transmitted via unprotected anal/vaginal sex, sharing needles.... Oral sex is a negligible risk, saliva is hostile to the virus... that theory belongs in the 1980's |

You need to go back to school I'm afraid.
HIV can be transmitted by sex, needle sharing, kissing and oral!
It all comes down to if you both have open wounds that somehow have contact.
It actually only takes microscoping amounts of blood to transmit the virus.
Believe me I work in a+e and constantly treat people who are at potential risk by giving vaccinations and starting them on the 6month programme that it takes to find out if you have it or not.
Even if we treat an assault victim and a condom was used we still do prophylactic treatment for HIV and other STIs |

Anecdotal stories of being infected by kissing are just that.... as are the outdated ideas of catching it from using the same toilet seat |

We will though I suspect I have read far more reputable research papers and evidence based practice.
But your health your risk |

Perhaps the practice of safe sex only is to help protect some rules, or no cumming in her, or doesn't want to get pregnant etc... Not always about STDs. Although should be one of the key thoughts with any new proposed partner |

It's all about levels of risk, isn't it?
Full unprotected sex with an infected person is pretty much a guarantee you'll be infected also.
Transmission of STD's via oral is not impossible, but it's a fairly rare occurrence by comparison. |

"what is the point of putting "safe sex only",on your profile if you are also going to perform oral sex ? " because safer sex isnt an option to tick. We use condoms for full sex but not for oral as the risks are significantly less and one we are prepared to take.

Because penetration is the most risky and of the 'worse' infections and condoms protect against the worst of that.
Oral has much lower risks, and as others have said, that's the only tick option.
The 'what's the point' thing tends to be used by people who play bareback and say that there's no such thing as safe sex anyway. Seems to be a bit of a diversionary argument. |

The correct term is safer sex but many people have reported it as safe sex.
Many things can be used to decrease risk levels, including the choice of hole that's penetrated, how you shag, people's testing and treatment regime, medication etc.
Condoms are just one element of risk management.oral sex is likely less risky for HIV transmission - on average - than vaginal or anal sex. There have been many forum discussions about oral sex safety, sp it's worth a search if this really interests you. |
