"Don't you just effing hate them
A huge one has just decided to pop out of nowhere
Why are they so big ...i really do not like them " We're just entering house spider mating season when the ladies go looking for a mate. Just try to think of them hosting their own version of fab and they won't scare you as much |

"We have no spider problem, thanks in large part to our bug assassin kitties. "
One of ours is a spider assassin too. I cringe when he catches a very large one and the legs hang wriggling out of his mouth while he chomps on it.
The other cat is a wimp - he actually runs away from big house spiders |

Just so that you know, spiders provide an invaluable service in keeping down the numbers of household insect pests, and they do it for free. They should be applauded not evicted. Not that that fact will make you feel any better. |

I don't mind spiders and I'm quite happy to catch them and put them outside.
However when changing my bed linen last week there was a false widow on my duvet. I sent my daughter off for a beaker to me catch it and had to keep preventing it running off the end of my bed with a pillow! Not sure why, but that one gave me the creeps and I didn't fancy picking it up in my hands |

They seem to be bigger this year. There was a big spider in the corner of my room the other night. I asked my husband to kill it for me but he told me to just go asleep that it wouldn't move. I fell asleep and woke around four. I felt something drop on me. I don't know if it was the spider but it was gone. Needless to say I slept on the sofa |

I used to have a tarantula maybe 8 years back, but I had some allergic reaction everytime when I tried to "pet" it. I felt like my palms are covered in hundreds of thorns and since then I don't like big spiders
Also I didn't have a problem with snakes until our snake bit my dad's hand....I've never touched it again |

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
Yep, its spider season. There's been some huge ones coming into my house. I usually leave them alone, but one decided to sit on the wall by my bedroom door, so that one was evicted. I also wasn't impressed at the one who decided to climb up my leg on Saturday. |

If you were bitten by a dog/cat/hamster/rabbit/any other conventional pet, would you never touch one again? Not asking to be argumentative or owt,I'm genuinely curious |

My dog/cat/hamster/rabbit(yeah we had them all) was never hanging from my hand for 10 minutes and is not 2 metres long but when I was little I remember I was bitten by my hamster when I woke him up and yes I was afraid to play with him again. Now I'm a lot bigger though so hamster, mice or rats won't scare me |

I dislike spiders intensely but am much better than I used to be.
I woke up alone one night to feed my new born son to find a huge spider sitting on his forehead. He was crying, I was crying. Absolute panic ensued. I knew I couldn't pick him up which made me more hysterical so I did what I thought was best and rang 999.
The police attended and removed the offending culprit from the moses basket but were not best pleased.

2 metres?,Tis but a tiddler 10 mins is a pretty quick release really,my Carpet Python took an hour and a half to let go when it tried to munch my hand. One of my Kings regularly tries to eat my thumb or fingers when I feed him too Can see why a 10 minute latch would put you off a snake though. What snake was it? |

I think it was python as well, we had nice albino one and before he had some grass snakes so I'm not really sure which one was it but it was during feeding too |

I feed most of mine by hand so been tagged a few times, the short-fanged ones are no bother but the long-fanged ones come a bit keen when they get me.I like feeding my spiders by hand too, usually locusts with the hopper legs removed so they stay on my hand and I don't end up chasing them round my living room |

Too many, the hoppy little bastards! a stage 3 hopper got away from me a while back, couldn't find it anywhere,it eventually appeared from under a unit as a fully-grown adult and proceeded to fly straight at my mate who emitted a very girly scream and ran off I caught it and fed it to one of my lizards |

Now I have a Ragdoll cat and sometimes we speak and sometimes we don't, one night I came home from work and he didn't greet me as normal, so I went and got changed into pj's and started to relax, 30 mins later I still hadn't seen him but I could hear him chattering away to himself, so I thought, what the hell is he up to and went to investigate.......as soon as I walked into the bedroom he whipped his neck round in my direction and with eyes like quickly pointed out the huge black spider firmly planted half way up the wall and with facial expressions said 'what the fuck is that!' I nearly wet myself
Unfortunately we had no option but to get the hoover out (and it nearly clogged it up )
The memory still makes me laugh |

Used to have a fear of spiders until my partner gave me some good advice - give each one a cute name and remember they have babies too! Once you name something, you do develop an emotional attachment to them - honestly.
A good coping strategy - though I still do insist he catches them and places them in next door's garden.
There was a massive one in the bathroom the other day - I swear I saw her pumping iron - thankfully Bessie is now in the garage |
