Just seen on the BBC news (@ 23:50) that the Chief Exec of Apple, Steve Jobs has resigned! Nothing on the BBC news site as yet, but scrolling under the newscaster!
Los Angeles Times IS reporting it though... Jobs has been elected Chairman and Tim Cook has been elected to the board.
Just hope it is not due to his illness. I don't particularly like Apple products, but the guy is a visionary and would be a sad loss to the industry..
And in the time it took me to type this, it is appearing all over…

FYI Tim Cook was already on the board as Chief Operating Officer and has effectively been running the company for months.
Seeing as Jobs is being moved to Chairman, It looks more like a natural succession rather than an emergency move directly related to Jobs' health. |

was shocked when i heard... but seeing how frail he looked at the last apple conference I am not surprised...
just sounds like the day to day stuff is too tough for him now, and being the chairman and doing all the overseeing may well be the best role for me at the moment..
I hope he is well enough to do the Iphone 5 presentation when it comes out in a few weeks .... |

"good riddence to apple and Mr Jobby...just another company peddling over priced gimmicks and making stacks of cash for shareholders."
and i hope people don't feel the same amount of symapthy for you if you happen to go thru serious health issues as you seem to give others...... |

I hope he gets back to full fitness and I able to get back to a more hands on role. Steve Jobs like Bill Gates is a visionary who guided Apple back to where they belong. I've been buying Apple computers and other products for the last 20 years and won't buy anything else. |

Jobs has had to retire from Apple before due to ill-health. I think his products are over-rated, over-hyped and over-priced. Perhaps a new hand at the healm with realise that Apple doen't make designer goods with designer prices and reduces their pricing to reflect comparable (and often better) products of a similar nature by other vendors.
Hope the guy gets well though, on a personal level. |
