Although I appreciate in the early years Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath led the way, but my halcyon days of rock were those when AC/DC, UFO, Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest showcased a melodic rock that surpassed all those earlier bands ....
They set the way for a host of bands that came later who copied their style and sound but without the raw edge they'd mastered to perfection ..
I respect bands like Motorhead but I don't include them my top four , but bands like Iron Maiden, Deaf Leopard and Saxon leave me cold .... |

Now your talking my music, I love Rock and Metal generaly from the 90's to present
I'm realy liking Leo Moracchioli who does some awsome metal covers of songs like Let it go from Frozen which reminds me very much of The Foo Fighters but if I need to put a smile on my face I just watch this:
Slipknot -Psychosocial (Bonjo cover ft. Leo Moracchioli)

Happy memories of the Glasgow Apollo and the classic Thin Lizzy/ACDC lineups. Was much more of a Fluff Freeman "Saturday music lover" than a Peel punk. Was into Deep Purple but preferred the solo stuff, hen they wrote proper songs rather than riffs: big Tommy Bolin fan and the first David Coverdale album, Northwinds, is brilliant. Saw Paice Ashton Lord, too, and that's a great album.
I used to enjoy watching Raw Power back in the 80s after a gig. But most of the new stuff I liked on there wasn't really metal: I remember it was first to break Fun Loving Criminals, Black Crowes and Faith No More. Had a soft spot for a bit of Sepultura but didn't really get the thrash thing.
I liked Pearl Jam in the 90s and Jet in the 00s.
Somebody gave me some Airbourne a few years ago, which is very ACDC for people who miss the real thing. |

I began as a rock fan. First gig Saxon in 1980. Diversified over the years.
Love some metal, jazz, punk, soul, African, electro, weird things. My tastes are obscure & eclectic
Seen great gigs covering all that this year and more to come. |

never thought I'd see Tommy's name in these forums. Big fan. Teaser and Private Eyes are remarkable. |
