Bye, bye Blowers, you dear old thing!

This may pass most of you by...
But the end of an era as Blowers says goodbye to Test Match Special, a standing ovation and lap of the pitch was no more than he deserved!
We may never see his like again. |

I'm not a fan of cricket but I'd happily hear to those dulcet tones waxing lyrical all day long .....
He can make the most mundane topics compulsive listening |

"Is he the one who did the famous the bowlers holding the batsmans willie comment? I did see his lap and they interviewed him as well."
Its a shame but that tale may be an urban myth, still the time Freddie Trueman got his foot stuck in a metal bucket and Brian Johnson unable to commentate for giggling is still a classic |

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the tributes to 'Blowers' yesterday. The skill to make the most mundane things sound entertaining is a unique skill. I used to look forward to his comments about the buses going around St. John's Wood, or the medium pace 'planes going into Heathrow, or even the disgruntled looking pigeons on the outfield. |

He will be so missed, a part of England we love but rarely get to experience in real life |
