What do you think of me?

People often bitch about other people at work etc. I'd rather know what people think of me so that if I'm an utter dickhead I can maybe work on that.
But people just smile and say "ohhh you're fine". 
I can't ask them directly "what do you think of me" as they will just be tactful. So I do like the forums cos people are happy to tell me they don't like me. 
How do you know what people REALLY think of you?  |

Good question OP. I suppose most people like to think that they're not an utter twat, although we all get on someone's nerves sometimes.
Some people are swayed by the company they keep, being an angel one minute then reverting to type at other times. |

People only ever tell you the good things if you ask.
I guess its about being aware of yourself and how your behaviour affects others.
If they run when they see you coming its a sure sign youre a bit of a twat  |

you just have to learn not to take things to heart, not to trust gossips who will slag others off behind their back, and realise you're really not the only dickhead that exists in the world.
oh yeah, and according to psychology people hate in others what they hate in themselves.  |

People don't have to say in words when they think bad things about you. Its so obvious from tone, body language and verbal tells.
Although I recently worked with some women who were very open and their perception of me surprised me somewhat. |

I think bullies and overly aggressive people need to work on their issues but most of us are ok |

I don't and if anyone tells me I tell them whether they are right or wrong. It's what I think of me that's important. |

I guess the problem lies in the fact that honest opinions differ on a daily basis!
We all love to judge, but so on so after seeing another's human side can sway opinions. |

You can never be sure that what people tell you is their real feelings or thoughts. You can only go off your gut feeling and even then be wrong still. If you're true to yourself it doesnt really matter I don't think. |

i really dont care that much what people think of me - but i think im quite likeable on here and in real life - either that or everybody is telling fibs to my face - you tend to get a feeling if folk arent overly fond - am i bothered - nah |

I've always been the kind of chap that values honesty and is always honest in return. I've found that most don't tend to appreciate that most of the time. I am never rude though, just honest.
So hard to gauge how you should be some times but honesty is always the best in my opinion |

From what I've seen in the forums, I rarely agree with your opinions but I admire the fact that you have opinions and the conviction to stick with them. Life would be boring if we all agreed on everything. |

Nah. I don't actually care. People who have something to say to me or of me, should just say it. If they can't or don't, then it's irrelevant.
If they do, I can make a choice, other than that...... |

I'd rather only be friends with people that can be honest with me. Shouldn't be too difficult you'd think yet all the time people do things that surprise me and not always in a good way.
I'd rather have one good friend than several false ones. |

If my daughter thinks I'm being a twat, she let's me know very quickly. No tact at all  .
Honestly though. The only people who matter are the ones I love. Everybody else's opinions don't bother me. Some will like you in life, some won't. I concentrate on pleasing those around me. If someone doesn't like me, that's up to them. They have the right to their feelings/opinions. If I don't like someone, I just don't or rarely engage with them.
I like you OP. You have a dry sense of humour and are fearless on here. You don't intentionally say things to have digs at people. You are one of the posters that I have a lot of respect for on here |

It's true that people don't always know us, they only know the 'us' when we are in contact with them. I say dumb things all the time and if that's all a person sees then they think I'm an ass. That's ok. |

I dont really care what people think of me. You rather like me or dont. People shouldnt be bothered or be willing to change themselves to accommodate others. Not everyone can get along. But should be pleasant and respectful to each other. Well thats what I think |
