wow.... 5.9 quake just outside of Washington DC.... felt from florida right the way up to Toronto.....
2 things.... Earthquake are not part of the deal when you move east... and there are no fault lines in the area...
just had a call from relatives in atlanta and new york and it has freaked them out a bit this close to 9/11 |

just spoken to my cousin... he works in manhattan... he said everyone is outside buildings at the mo and taking advantage of a long break... just seems they are a bit worried about the possibilites of aftershocks in the next hour or so |

Then keep an eye on Earthquake Watch. It tells you when they get downgraded and if there are further tremors. Hope they all stay safe. |

if anyone has friends or relatives in the DC,Northern Virginia and Maryland... the phone system has been knocked out at the moment and the bits that are working is jammed....
the good thing is that it looks like there are no injures so far.... |

The UK has over 20 quakes per year that measure between 2-3 on the Richter scale, we have a 5-pointer every 10 years or so, and 140+ 1-pt tiddlers each year.
We're not on a fault line either, which goes to show it can happen anywhere, anytime. |
