"Is it possible to haggle over the price of something in a high street store, or is it difficult because the staff dont tend to be allowed to to drop prices of things?"
yes yes yes, some will knock minimum 2.5% of if you pay cash as the price is marked up to cover the cost of credit card transactions.

we managed to get a free wall mounting and freeview plus box when we bought our tv as i went between currys n comet seeing who would give us the best deal
they might not be able to give discount but ya might get freebies

Got currys to waver the delivery fee as they actually wanted 2 x £30 cause there was two items ended up getting free delivery.
As you say lots of freebies, whats the worst they can do if you ask is just say no |

Was looking at a tv, told htem it was £200 cheaper on line. Tney said well you can take it away today. I said for £200 I would wait.
Asked me which site, I said Currys.
I was in a Currys store
Said they would match the price, showed them the pound notes and then told them I Also wanted a tv for the kitchen, got extra discount and wall brackets etc |
