I was getting ready to go to work it was early Sunday morning and put tv on while I had my breakfast .

Couldn't believe it really as it seemed a bit confusing with how it happened .

Watching the Norman Wisdom film "The Early Bird" on TV. A news flash came up on the screen confirming her death. Completely surreal moment. I changed over news channel and there it was. It was one of those moments where you just sit in quiet disbelief.

Sitting in the carpark of Raintrees Shopping Centre in Cairns listening to the radio and eating a roast beef roll from my best friend's parents shop.

Was around 10am I heard my mum crying real bad and she ran up and told me she had died. Gutted doesn't cut it very sad day

.

That's right, I remember watching the news and it said she'd been involved in a car crash in France and then the feed from the tunnel came in and they were interviewing a doctor who had stopped and treated them for twenty minutes, he said Dody was dead or very near dead but that Diana was conscious and talking and had a broken leg... Feel asleep woke up and then oh now there all dead except one who's in a coma and will never ever regain any memory of it

Saw the news whilst she was still alive, that she'd had an accident. With a cop, friend of the family. Then woken up to hear the sad news of her death. It didn't seem real.

I woke up and sat down at my computer to work on my Native American summer holiday school project.

After that I turned on the telly to see what was on and realised after clicking channels for a few minutes that every channel had the news showing.

So I paid attention to what they were actually reporting, couldn't believe my ears, then ran up to my mam's bedroom to wake her up and tell her.

She didn't believe me at first until I insisted she put the telly on.

I got up about 5.30 am on the sunday to get ready for work. Put the radio on as always and heard she had been in a bad car accident then the news altered to say she was dead. I woke my ex to tell him because i was shocked and sad and i wanted a hug. He wasnt interested. I went work and told the other staff and we put the tv on for the residents to watch because most of them loved Diana. A sad strange day

Making breakfast at the time, in the kitchen. Remember it well. Later on that week my ex and I went to Kensington Palace and put flowers by the gates - adding to the thousands of flowers already there

We were living in Italy at the time and were out shopping when a local approached us very upset and said he was sorry for our loss. We looked at him blankly and asked what he meant, he was quite shocked that we hadn't heard.

Unless our maths is way out that doesn't look very good at all.

Hopefully a different Lucy?

Oh dear, I don't see this ending well.

I was woken by my girlfriend (same age as me) as she had just come in from a night out. She was in tears and told me what had happened. I didn't believe her at first.

I was 7 years old, and, like my parents, I wasn't really fussed about it, much like I'm not fussed now.

Similar for me ..

I was in the Caribbean and someone said "I'm sorry your princess is dead"

I came back to the UK on the day of the funeral.

I don't think it would have affected me if I hadn't seen the media frenzy.

I remember there being wall to wall coverage the day after and this will sound callous, I didn't care. I was still full of grief for my grandma who died four weeks earlier.
