The rebuild starts.... my old M3 evo

Unburied it from its grave in the corner of my garage a few weeks ago.

Started first turn once I charged its battery. Not bad after three or four years.

It makes some horrid noises when it moves so new discs and pads arrived today for from and rear.

Replacement exhaust arrived Friday.

It's now in the air.... two broken front springs immediately apparent.

Gloves are on...... let's strip this beast.

Oh cool. I had a 405 Mi16 that I sold to a guy with a 205. He was going to put the engine into his.

That's quite a common lump to chuck in,pretty straightforward too after seeing the price tag I'm going all original with this one so I can sell it on once I've had some fun with it.Original stuff is getting hard to come by for classic sports hatches now, rebuilt an XR2 and the missing interior parts were a right pain in the arse to track down

What model M3? I had an e36 emfree vert in tekno purple, blue top & silver leather interior. Very understated..... ??

The mrs 'enciuraged' me to sell it as it only had 4 seats tgen as soon as it was summer she wished we still had it ??

I have (among other ongoing projects) a 205 cti that needs a new interior and a little fettling but it's all there. I might paint it but it's staying stock 1.6

It's the e36 3.2 evo. LSD and 6speed box. Auto dip rear view mirror. Auto recirc on the Aircon, (rare). walnut trim. Black interior. Cosmos black paint. 4 door. (Again pretty rare).

I've had someone look at it regarding new arches and a new back panel to get rid of rust and a respray. That has come in at a reasonable price.

I want the wheels refurbed too.

I've only put about 30k on it in 13/14 years.

there was a similar car all rebuilt at a track day I was at recently... it certainly made me smile to see it going around the track x

Well I’ve finally found the time to put the front end back together tonight.

It’s back in its wheels and on charge.

Intending to start it over the weekend. Move it to a better position and then strip the rear to check that’s all ok. I teplaced most of the bushes a few years ago so hopefully it’ll just need the discs and pads I bought it.

Hoping it’s not another 30 weeks !

It must be something in the air, I pulled out my mk2 escort from the depts of the garage to photograph it and put it up for sale last week,

After agonising over it for the past few days I've come to realise I'll only regret selling it so I'll drive it for the summer and start a complete restoration next winter! I must be stone mad lol

That is the exact reason for before and after photos. You can see the progress made in the resurrection and have a step by step library of bringing the car back to life.

I do this with my restoration projects albeit progress is generally slow

An MGB GT is fun. Had one when me and my ex were together. We were just in our 20’s so hardly a driving gloves and cap in sight.

Fun to drive and a great sound from the engine. Had a full length sunroof as well!
