Hot dam....it's that time again when to many miles kills the Co car and I need to pick new one...

Seeking some good inspiration as can't see anything realistically I like and budget up to £70k

Done the following Audi, Mercs and range rover over last 5 years....and never been a fan of the BMW badge...

Any ideas from others (god help me)

Give us something to go on ffs. Does it have to be a 4-dr saloon or do you have a free choice? Any restriction on engine size or type of fuel? Any unique requirements?

Wait for the latest civic type R it's a complete monster for a FWD 2.0 plus it looks insane

It can get round a track quicker than a lot of supercars (Audi R8, C63 AMG)

If I had that to spend on a car, it definitely be looking at some of the Japanese beasts, supra, skyline gtr, evo X

have to rev the crap outta them though and he is obviously looking for a luxury car and not sure the civic will quite do. If I had that to spend.. I would look at the Nissan gtr.. or the alfa giulia quadrifoglio.. probably the later and have enough money left to buy something fun for the track and quirky

Although 70 grand I could buy a few classics im after instead.

If the op had range rover etc... then little hot hatch may not be the weapon of choice.

You don't have to rev the crap out of the new Type Rs at all, I've got one of the older one which yeah, it's usually screaming its head off until around 8500rpm

But the new ones the vtec system doesn't work in the traditional way, they've introduced a turbo, the red line is around 7000rpm now.

Plus he's said he's done the whole audi, merc, BMW....so if he liked them that much he'd just get another.....

If it's the ladies you're wanting more than car spec, maybe Google what the WAGs go for. (I'm being serious. People choose what shirt and shoes to wear on a date so why not a car.)

But he doesn't have money it a company car. Nextweek the company could fire him , make redundant or go bust then its walkies. The OP pays tax to drive it. Myself i'd prefer a larger pay cheque and invest in something better like property or shares to increase my income.

Those that look like they have money usually don't it all on hp pcp etc.

When I neded a car for work I asked an old friend who's been in the family motor business since birth. He said the most reliable brands were Audi (not a Quattro cos they're often 2nd-hand taxis) and a few Japanese manufacturers - Toshiba, Honda, etc. That was the 00s so it might've changed a bit but you can't go wrong with an Audi.

I'm just glad I no longer need a car. Best advice my dad ever gave me: "You have a car, or you have money."

So what is he's talking money/job

That's why I go to my job and I'm sure most people are the same.

I say well done to him for having a job that has such perks as a 70k company car.

Or shall we all just start sitting on the floor of public transport like jermery corbyn

I'd seriously look at the Infinity range, the Q50 or Q60 are very well equipped for the money, I'm assuming you don't have to spend the full 70k. You can get a top spec infinity for a fraction of the price of a same spec Merc and they are top drawer in terms of build quality.

"Wish I had a 70k budget to for a company car, I feel bitter!

For lots of miles to cover I would get a Merc GLE class, or a jaguar F type or for pure fun I'd get a Nissan GTR. "

I have a gle coupe 350d Amg line on test this weekend as it goes..., good looking and fairly quick.....however looks like c class inside and not liking the multi media screen as lots like its an after thought

It really depends on how far and where you drive it, and what's being carried.

Lots of town stuff parking may be the issue, motorway then wind resistance and comfort, luggage space etc.

But I personally would claim the high ground and go electric... can then slot in 2 hour meets during paid hours of the day as long as you are able to plug it in

"what about a ford focus rs or st version with all the extras. about 40-50k depending on which extras added. and still have money left over.

50k on a Ford Focus? Don't be silly.

A fully spec'd up RS is around £37,000

I hate that they've toned down the styling "

Yes, but you're a TYpe-R fan, Everything is toned down to that eyesore

Easy choice based on what you have had Porsche Macan. However the Alfa has got to be worth a test

I took me a while to come round to the looks of the FK8, but I think it's awesome, it's what the king of the hot hatches should be, bold, in your face, aggressive. Honda have outdone themselves this time. Its a 2.0 fwd Civic that can hang out and outperform supercars.

I'm eying one up in the next couple of years

With the golf R, focus RS, Subaru sti. All looking downright boring I'm glad it looks mental

Skoda or a new Volvo (can't remember which Volvo tho) . I saw one at a show, looks good on the outside, amazing on the inside (important if you're in it a lot). Will get a shed load of miles with no problems.

Then I can come along after 3 years and buy it dirt cheap

All the haters forget that fact, these cars are sold on dirt cheap after with fsh and have been maintained well!!

I agree a hyper hatch should look special and the others don't but the Type-R goes too far and i detest the fakery of it. Those black plastic vents that aren't actually vents at all and serve no purpose. I haven't checked the dimensions but it just looks so much bigger than before

I was genuinely looking forward to the 1.5 turbo engine that's replaced the 1.8.

I had the 1.8 before switching to the type R.

It looks huge in person, it's only 6 inch longer than the previous model but it's enormous!

Lots of women want sex with men who declare on public websites they can afford to loose the depreciation of a 70 k car

Lots of women don't x

And if I had the wit to produce the cash to afford such cars I would certainly not be a telling anyone or need to ask what my heart desires x

I guess an inability to read a thread and understand that the OP is not the one spunking £70k on a car or suffering the depreciation probably explains we you're not in that position.

It's a company car! His company is leasing it not him. Capiche?

With exception of current car, all my previous Co cars have given me virtually no trouble and gone back in mint condition especially as they have 90K to 95K miles and no expense spared.

Each to there own but maybe you shouldn't wear stilettos to drive as you probably don't have full control of the brakes.

Maybe take along a more sensible pair to actually drive and change into your stilettos to play in the car

Agree fantastic for view on the road and surrounding, super comfortable to drive but my experience the reliability has not been a great one.

Today bought Alfa 147 Lusso, first tentative step to hours in the garage fiddling with track rod ends and learning to speak with an adenoidal monotone!

Porsche Macan Turbo fits in that budget nicely Gives a little room to spec it up as well.....

Have you thought about Hybrid models of some cars, do they give you lower tax rates??
