Duped by a fake meet today

Started messaging a lady and seemed normal . Sent me a friend request ..so thought superb shes real . Then passed on her kik . Sorted a meet after an exchange of messages for next day (today) . On driving 30mins there the messages i was sending was being read but not replying so got that sinking feeling its a fake profile !!
The usual signs of a name with a number at end of it and quick reply with kik .
Wasnt wasted day though as had a perv at Greenwich Park perving lol |

I've had this happen before. Seemed real enough and was photo verified on here. We had spoke for quite a while. She may of been real but just wasting time. Got ready, about to leave the house and messaged for the postcode. No reply. Sent 3 messages asking and got nothing. Changed my plans especially aswell. |

I knew it was a complete fake as she become aggressive and defensive she was in shower when i messaged lol then things she said like she was in a flat then next minute in a house . The profile has been removed now anyway |

Ours is literally 76 as hubby was born in 76, and 83 as I was born in 83  |

Verified profiles can still be fake.... I recently reported a female profile using my pics that was meet verified by a man !! |

1) Talk on the phone
2) Ask for live photos or a video chat
3) Trust but verify.

I've had fakes in terms of the guy not looking like his picture. I.e. It was him in the photo, but not present day...(ate some pies, lost some hair, went grey, shorter etc) so the physical attraction just isn't there.
Doesn't really happen any more, as more careful with my selection. |

Oh yes had our fair share of those. Most often last minute "will you meet on your own."
Couple of no shows too. Don't trust verifications all the time. Plenty of fakes ones floating round.
If in doubt speak chat room or phone.
That used to annoy us. Now look on it as step closer to find those who want to play (oh and still look for a regular play mate.) |

That should send alarm bells, normally they are fake when they go straight to KIK and new to the site.

Happens far too often!
Perhaps a more robust verification system should be given some thought? Personally I think you get a sixth sense with time, or something like that lol |

I had a very similar one: exchanged messages over a few days with a couple. They'd been in the site for six months and had a number of verifications in person. Got as far as me driving to their street and asking for the house number... silence, and then profile deleted within the hour. |

Most times its pretty obvious a fake but today i had my guard down . The simple quick reply with their kik should of been the sign ..dohhhh oh well lol |

It's quite possible that their profile had been hacked, as this happened to us on another profile. Someone started advertising for meets and put up the postcode and hotel name to where we were staying. A friend on here alerted us and we quickly deleted the profile. We think someone must have hacked partner's phone, saw our texts between ourselves of where and when to meet, my preferences, and got onto our profile that way!!  |

It does state clearly on the Fab FAQs to seriously consider a meet where you have to travel a long time. You can avoid these shenanigans by using your head (as The Brain states):
Is the profile new?
Are they verified?
Do they ask you to go to Kik/Whatsapp quickly?
Have you got their address and have you checked it on Google Maps?
Have you spoken to them on the phone?
None of these will guarantee you won't at some point get messed around, but thinking with the big brain instead of the little one will reduce the risk. |
