I've just gone for Supermarket school uniform rather than the School badge embroidered uniform this year (they're in Primary School). Just can't afford it.

The first two weeks back in School they fall over and rip their trousers so need more new anyway.

And don't get me started on School shoes!

They break up a week earlier. The first week is the ideal time to go away as its a lot cheaper than the following 6 weeks.

I'm delaying it 'til next week (and hoping I can find the uniform list as I have a sneaky feeling they've changed colours for the trousers/skirts) Hope your shop went well OP.

Put your foot down. Don't buy until they grow out of the last one. It doesn't make them more intelligent.

if only ... most schools now everything has to be proper school uniform and the children will be sent home without it and if they change it you have to buy the new one

I refused to buy the PE kit, it is branded and I told them I wont for ethical reasons and it's not inclusive for all children due to the cost. Alongside that, the children aren't allowed anything branded unless it's shoes that are completely black, but then the PE kit has a white logo. They then allocated one for free.

Another thing that peed me off was the blazer has to already have the logo on, can't buy a blazer from say asda and then purchase the logo separately; meaning double the price from the uniform shop. Bloody academies!

I sent my child to grandma's to do most of his school shopping. Still have to do the pe kit, trainers, blazer tie and school shoes! Am not looking forward to it at all.

"it used to be new school shoes that bugged the hell out of me - the rest was ok"

I'm happy to buy quality shoes.

I'm not happy we have to buy crap quality garments from only one or two shops just because they have the school logo on them.

If there was a need for uniforms, teachers would have one too.

it was more the battle to get the girlchild to have the regulation shoes - or as near to as possible -

Our school has provided helpful photos for that!

Pain in the arse, I agree
