A cyclist shows up for a group ride on a new carbon speed machine.

"Hey, where did you get the new ride?", asks one of the group.

"Well," he says, "I was out on a ride when this really hot chick rode up alongside. We got to talking and one thing led to another and we stopped at a park. She suddenly stripped off and said, 'take what you want', so I took the bike."

So then.... Topical cycling question.... Who rides a fixie and do you have a front brake on it if you do?

Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

I hate fixies, having spent several years cycling in London I found that your average fixed wheeled rider is an arse (apologies if you're a fixie rider and not an arse, but had too many run ins with them generally).

I however do make the distinction between single speed riders and fixies, imho fixies are great for track use but serve no purpose outside the velodrome...

I'll ride out of Bristol to anywhere, anytime and with anyone!

So if anyone fancies meeting up for a bit of roadtrip I'm very likely to be on for it.

I have a felt road bike, felt cyclo-cross with road wheels/tyres on and a trek hybrid for commuting and other dapping about on.

I'm currently torturing myself deliberating over rewarding myself with a specialized tarmac or a giant TCR for being a good boy health wise and keeping in shape and all the weight off.

I think that's the case with both to be honest.. Think it's just gonna have to be down to test rides on the end as you can beat actually riding and getting the feel before buying.

Welcome to you all

I will compile a list of FCC members over the next few days and post it here. Anyone who then wishes to be added or removed can then let me know.

We can then discuss and decide where we go from here; Strava group, maybe a social ride etc

Thanks for all your responses so far, this is looking promising.

I notice from the bike sites today that they just announced a new update of the propel for 2018 with hydraulic discs so I'm definitely interested in that.

I have ridden a friend's propel to get the feel of the geometry but I feel some test rides coming on as soon as their available.

180 to be fair. Left Marble Arch at 3pm. 60 miles or so to Newhaven. Overnight ferry to Dieppe and 120 miles to Paris. There's a really nice smooth tarmaced green route that goes about 30 miles south from there which is a really nice ride. Arrived at the Arc about 3pm local time the following day,

Damn I want to do it again
