North Notts

Everyone knows the place where the most umbongo is d*unk is in the Congo but what other foods or beverages have geographic ties?

Tabasco sauce is from Tabasco

Madras from Madras

Balaclavas are from Balaclava although admitted they are rather chewy.

Any more?

Leeds

Except that Um Bongo had nothing to do with the Congo! The advertising jingle simply claimed that it was d*unk there.

That fact was pretty unbelievable, given that Nestle created it, and produced it in Cumbria, and later Portugal, and those were the only 2 countries in which it was sold!

And some products have EU protected status, such as Champagne, or Wensleydale cheese, so they can only be produced in those locations. Whereas a Sara Lee Black Forest gateau, produced in the UK is allowed, and you can make Yorkshire Puddings in Lancashire, if you like!
