Autumn........

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

........ it arrived this week, wasn't too sure at first, but this morning felt autumnal.

Sunny, with that coolness in the air and the morning light looks different.

I'm looking at my flowers and thinking, how soon before the frost gets you and takes you unawares? How soon before the swallows in my garden fly south?

Central heating may have to go back on, that to me means summer is over.

Is it the end of your summer yet and what signs mean the beginning of autumn for you?

Yes, its here. Air quality has changed it is colder in the morning and seems to take longer to warm up.

My garden is changing more seed heads, apples ready to harvest. Some bird missing from my garden, gone south.

Dont you just love this season for its changing colours.

I noticed the changes in the air and light here this morning as well. The leaves are changing colour and there was dew on the car. I love this time of year with the wonderful autumnal colours. Will go for a walk later round Willen Lake where there's a beautiful array of tress bursting with colour

No, it's fine here, especially today. A beautiful day.

Yes, the evenings are cooler by a few degrees, but it certainly isn't cold at night.

I have a 5-night camping trip in September, which is usually better weather than August.

Must be something to do with school holidays!

A lot of the swallows and swifts disappeared here about a week ago.

Just the odd one or two left.

Sun is still shining here and I've been down the beach with the dogs, making the most of it before it's wellies and waterproofs every day.

I'm hoping for an indian summer before the floaty summer dresses and tops are definitely packed away.

On the bright side though, my little village will belong to the locals again and the tourists will be down in number till christmas and new year. xx

"How soon before the swallows in my garden fly south? "

I was really getting into your post until the line above, when for some curious reason I began to think about cunnilingus. That was it from that point - I stopped reading.

Beautifully sunny here Lainey, but with that 'nip in the air' which we northerners know only too well. My gladioli are about to bloom and next doors apple trees are laden those are deffo end of summer signals.

Also last night I had all of the lamps on in various rooms creating the cosy atmosphere I like in the house. Im a winter person though so look forward to this time of year

little house on the praire

Not only are the blackberrys out some are over, at least 2 weeks earlier than normal.

I dont like heat so its ok for me like this although last week i thought it was november.

For me middle of september is the turning point.

It had been boiling hot till the day callum was born and then it changed to autumn over night.

I do love the autumn though. Actually autumn is 21st of september so i am right.

Wont put my heating on until november unless we go into an ice age

I want it to be summer forever, well or at least for when its meant to be summer

Autumn just means that winter is round the corner

The best thing about Autumn is kicking all the leaves and the sunshine in the morning that shows all the dew and makes the cobwebs shine
