I honestly can't see past Mayweather to win on points. Hes a great defensive boxer, he will just box flurries and back up, scoring points the whole way through, mcgregor's style is built for him, but I like McGregor, and he has a punchers chance...but all this talk of Mayweather knocking him out is fantasy....hes not ko'ed anyone in 6 years, has brittle hands and McGregor is used to punch's with lighter gloves, so I think he can take the punishment. I'd really like to be wrong though.

Mayweather too quick and defensive for Connor.... disappointingly... however he does have a punchers chance in a two horse race...

No matter what I think of mayweather he is an excellent boxer, but he's 40, and against a powerful puncher like McGregor one slip, get tired, drop the guard. And it will be lights out. And McGregor isn't stupid. He will spot weakness in an instant

As good a boxer as Floyd is,I think Conor will win with a stoppage.Conor won't be able to outbox Floyd as Floyd is too good for that to happen, but I think Conor will be able to soak up Floyd's attack until he tires, then Conor will use his explosive power to put Floyd away.Conor to win with a second half stoppage

A town near you

Why do people even expect a contest between a guy who has never boxed professionally and a guy who is considered one of the all time boxing greats ?

Obviously after all the hype to sell tickets and pay per view Mayweather has to make it last a few rounds otherwise it will be seen for what it is, a sham !

After this I'm putting my money on Tyson Furey coming out of retirement to fight the WWF champion

I can't see any way that McGregor win personally, people say he has power, but has he really with 8oz gloves on. Canelo is a miles better boxer and in boxing hits harder same as Roy Jones Jnr neither of these top draw boxers have managed it, so I can't see an amateur doing it at all. Mayweather might be 40, but its not a regular 40 he will make him look silly for about 6 then stop him

I like mcnugget, I think he's amusing and a good showman.

Mayweather is undoubtedly one of if not the best boxers ever but I think he's a bit of a nob.

I'd like to see him lose but mcnugget only has a punchers chance, that's if he can get close to him.

Mayweather inside 6-8 for me.

All this talk from mma fighters that boxing is one disapline sport. Look at the footwork from lemachenko!! As much as I want mcgregor to win by tko mayweather will not be touched. He will school Mcgregor in a boxing match. As far as a rematch goes there's no way in hell mayweather will contemplate entering the octagon.

The media have done a amazing job promoting this fight, and making out mcgregor has a chance. You only need to look at all the world champions Mayweather has boxed and won. He's basically made quality fighters look average. Canelo, Mosley, Hatton, Del Hoya, Pacquiao couldn't land any punches on him of note so how do they expect a novice who has never boxed before to that. Mayweather is a shroud business man now and didn't need this fight but he must know it's going be like taking candy from a baby

Mayweather is going to win unfortunately, although in going to put money on McGregor to win just on the off chance. The only way McGregor can win is if he just comes our swinging for the fences to knock him out or Mayweather will just go the normal boring defense route.

Nathan Cleverly gets the bet, the real fight on the night, prob points but a stoppage/round gets better odds...

The other pair should be doing it for free like the wrestling used to be on world of sport, that was pantomime too...

I'd put my money on mayweather. He's boxed for years, it's his game, don't get me wrong mcgregor is fast and powerful but he ain't no boxer. Mayweather will waiting for him to come in hard and then he'll just counter him and get out of harms way before mcgregor knows what hit him

Would like to see Mcgregor win but my money would have to be on Floyd.

As someone else said on this thread mcgregor has a chance to win if he comes out all guns blazing and catches Floyd with some very hard shots and stops him or knocks him out but this is very unlikely.

Seems like this might be a fixed or staged show from start to finish just for the ridiculous amount of money but we'll see when the fight is actually over.

When are people going to realise that mayweather loses all his usual advantages ? In connors eyes , its not a boxing match, its a fight using only hands. Mayweather will be severely hurt in the first round. If however he can survive the first 3 rounds- then yes mayweather on points or a late tko

But i seriously doubt he will make it to round 3

Can't see past Mayweather. Don't see how McGregor can beat him. All the power in the world doesn't matter if you can't land it clean. He's not the hardest to hit in the Octogon and his come forward style should suit Mayweather to a tee.

Betting wise there's no money in Floyd winning unless he finishes Conor who is much bigger but I do expect to struggle over the 12 round format. So it's picking rounds but then Floyd doesn't finish opponents often these days with his fragile hands and McGregor is a big strong lad. For me the good money is on knockdowns in specific rounds. McGregor can be hit, has an unorthodox stance, may tire and Mayweather has laser accuracy.

I managed to get 40/1 on McGregor getting knocked down in the 10th. Worth a fiver purely as a punt.

I'd like to point a few things out here.

Mayweather is without doubt a great boxer but looking at the illustrious names on his fight list; chavez (29 -6), castillo (29 -4 & 29-4), gatti (33 -5), judah (29=), de La Hoya (34 -4), Hatton (29 +1), marquez (36 -4), mosley (39 -6), ortiz (24 +10), cotto (32 +3), Alvarez (23 +13), maidana (31 +6), pacqiauo (33 +1).

He has nearly always been the younger man or he has fought twilight boxers.

He should have lost on points to de La Hoya, was hurt by Hatton, and avoided pacqiauo and mosley for years.

His performances are often far from outstanding and he only has a 53% knockout rate.

He is rated as best pound for pound of all time, but look at someone quiet like calzaghe 10 years as champion, 46-0, 70% knockout rate and 2 victories at a higher weight by class opponents.

Mayweather has a big mouth and a bucket load of money, but he's got it through his management, fight selection and his promo work out of the ring.

Above all he is violent to women and on that basis alone is classless.

It boils down to one thing in the end, can he deal with an unorthodox fighter who has great timing and one punch knockout power, who is in his prime and hungry for the win and above all has clearly no respect for mayweather whatsoever.

Mayweather has made a career of fighting the right man at the right time. All of a sudden you think he has this one wrong?

Alvarez was a bigger, much younger fighter who is legit world class who didn't respect Mayweather. Until he got in the ring and couldn't lay leather on him.

McGregor isn't a boxer. Mayweather has grown up man and boy in the boxing gym. He's certainly risk averse. But you believe he puts his legacy on the line in a fight to overtake Marciano's record with a guy who will beat him. A defeat which destroys Mayweather's legacy completely. Floyd cannot and will not lose this bout.

Floyd nearly always looks fresh as a daisy after 12 rounds, he's done it many many times. His stamina, even at 40, will be far superior to Connors and floyd knows how to pace himself for 3 minutes for 12 rounds, Connor hasn't a clue how to do this.

People say floyd hasn't stopped anyone in years but he hits hard enough to make his opponent scared to throw punches for fear of what will come back if they miss (Alvarez fight a particularly good example of this). I think exhaustion will do for Connor however and he'll be stopped on his feet around 7-9 rounds of 1-sided action.

McGregors is going to win. No question about it. His mindset is too strong. He's going to put floyd to sleep.

McGregor trains like an animal. He's quick, smart, super precise and clinical and can knock you out with one punch.

The man adapts and learns like no one else.

Mayweathers hard wired and his heart isn't in it. He's already lost and he knows it.

£40 for McGregor to win in the 4th.

OK so he fought an Alvarez with 9 years less experience, Alvarez is better suited to a higher weight which he has now moved up into. He was never renowned for speed, like most powerful boxers.

The whole legacy thing, who would think less of Mayweather if he were to lose? He still equalled the record, would this one loss to a younger guy in his prime, that he came out of retirement to fight etc etc wipe his record, I think not.

If Mayweather loses ( which would not surprise me for fiscal reasons, think of the rematch purse) does it really matter he still gets his biggest ever pay day, still equalled the record etc.

If he wins, he beats the record, retires again and McGregor goes back to being champion in UFC.

The whole career boxer vs first time boxer argument astounds me and can not believe people cannot see this for the circus it is. How many fighters have to fight bout after bout for a title shot? McGregor gets one first time out as a boxer.

Mayweather tried it with the WWE and now he's doing the same with UFC, jumping on the popularity bandwagon to ride the cash cow. Anyone who thinks this decision is based on boxing as opposed to anything other than financial gain is deluded.

This fight is pure win/win for mayweather he makes a huge purse win or lose and potentially even more to lose. It wouldn't surprise me if there isn't some WWE style arrangement over who will win and how.

Both mercenary fighters great in their own sports. Mcgregor wins fight one, mayweather fight two, then a billion dollar purse for fight 3.

Regarding bookies, McGregor is only 3/1, 6/4 on some sites. Tyson fury was higher odds than this against Klitschko so bookies aren't that confident of Mayweather. Just saying.

This fight is a farce in my opinion.

I'm hoping mayweather knocks the head off him, purely because I don't want boxing to go through a trend of UFC fighters coming to the sport just for a payday. Hopefully mayweather beating the snot out of mcgregor would stop that

i only managed to find 4/1 this morning... and that scared me for the exact reason you said, because this shouldn't be close

if this was mayweather prime... this would be a one way slaughter... but mayweather at 40 with 2 yrs off and brittle hands.... i dunno!

anyway, weigh in is at 11pm, that place is going to be rocking!

Even if Connor could out box mayweather, I very much doubt the judges, the ref, or the boxing organisation would allow an outsider to in effect make a mockery of the sport, or of Mayweather's record - no way.

I don't really know much about boxing, but I do know a bit about martial arts, and specifically about full-contact, and I can tell you the McGregor will be used to getting hit... if he has sparred enough he will know what to expect from a boxer, and he will have to finish it fairly quickly as most MMA fights don't last very long, so I would think he would come out swinging, hope to push Mayweather back enough to screw his gameplan, and then hammer him.

I dislike Mayweather, so I'd like to see him get his ass handed to him lol.

"OK so he fought an Alvarez with 9 years less experience, Alvarez is better suited to a higher weight which he has now moved up into.

Almost every genuine boxing fan would deem Mayweather's legacy tarnished beyond repair if he loses this.

The record only applies to retiring there are a few who have surpassed that record for wins from.the start of their career. If he gets beat he doesn't in effect equal Marciano he's thrown that away.

Mayweather didn't try it in WWE he had a promotional slot but so did Trump ffs.

His ego won't allow him lose this fight. His skill level means he can't.

McGregor needs to take a bow, his debut match in boxing vs one of the greatest of all times and he took him to the 10th round.

I think these big fights are so hyped up they fall victim to their own hype far too easily, I couldn't watch the majority of it so can't really comment of the spectacle of it.

But with pretty much everyone on the hypetrain, it almost creates the illusion is going to be a show like a wrestlemania main event.

"Can't see past Mayweather.

Didn't watch it. What I don't like is all the pre fight bitching between fighters and then all the respect shown afterwards. It's like 'I beat you so we can forget what we both said your a legend, thanks mate so are you'.

Joshua and Klitchko showed how it should be

Fair play he hung in there and played fairer than expected, but in the end 12 3min rounds are more exhausting than 3 5min rounds. Pretty entertaining all being said

I'm a big fan of both fighters having stayed up many times to watch them fight.

How anyone thought McGregor had a chance is beyond me. Mayweather has fought against so many talented fighters, from Oscar De Hoya, Judah, Mosley, Cotto, Marquez, Hatton, Maidana, Alvarez etc.

He dealt with all of them without taking too much of a beating.

I also love MMA, particularly the UFC and have been watching since Anderson Silva, Chuck Liddell and GSP were in their prime and still fighting.

McGregor is a great MMA fighter, no doubt about it and has made fighters look silly in the Octagon.

When this fight was first announced I thought, "it's a wind up right"? How could someone who has never boxed professionally compete with someone who has done it against the best all his life? Even the greats like Sugar Ray Leonard thought it was a farce.

Yeah McGregor had a chance to beat him but better equipped fighters than him still came up short when they faced Mayweather.

How anyone could give McGregor a chance I do not know.

Anyway I rooted for Mayweather and as expected, he got the 50-0. The first couple of rounds were interesting. But you could clearly see McGregor get gassed and Mayweather having fun with him in the later rounds.

The ref could've let the fight continue but Mayweather was peppering him with shots and the KO was coming so it was a good decision to stop it.

Good effort from McGregor and he gets a big payday so he's still laughing to the bank.

If this fight was in the Octagon, it would have been over in less than 10 seconds. Goes to show how different Boxing and MMA are when fighters face each other.
