Historians say that all ancient peoples whether Aztecs, Aboriginals, mesopotamian anywhere in the world, they all had their own mythic characters but they all had a Popeye.

Well I think it meant that if we didn't already have a Popeye we'd invent one just as they all did. Guess he fills a fundamental need.

The astrological sign of Mercury is traditionally the symbol for transgender.

In Greek mythology, Hermes, the Greek version of the Roman god, Mercury, has one foot in the physical world and another in the realm of the unseen. Sounds familiar.

Hermes and Aphrodite, the goddess of love, had a child named Hermaphroditus. That child possessed both male and female sexual organs, hence the term, 'hermaphrodite'.

Rituals associated with the worship of Aphrodite are also believed to have involved transvestism and the transgendered were considered to be gods themselves in many ancient civilisations. Why, thank you, you may lay your tributes at my feet and retire to feast.

In the Mercury symbol, the crescent moon at the top represents the masculine and the cross the feminine. The ring represents the individual, with the male and the female balanced on either side.
