Sadly, the murderous perpetrators have now found an easy way to kill without using guns, knives, or explosives. The number of these incidents will continue to rise I fear. |

The media are dreadful in these situations, Sky news practically orgasmic over it and will devote an entire day to reporting it, standing outside buildings its almost as if they relish the fact of it, and in turn it glamourises it and encourages fanatics to copycat as they become almost martyrs, immortalised because people remember them. Yes report on it, but not the macabre extent they do, deal with the perpetrators but dont name them and turn them into heroes! |

From how Media reports in this country have reported the "how to prevent vehicles being driven into crowds" scenarios, the UK is now recognised as a leader in this type of control.
Other cities around the world are beginning to use UK methods, but obviously not quickly enough in Spain.
Take an example in the UK. My home city of Hull has over the past 18 months revamped the city centre but roads and pedestrian areas all merge together without kerbs. In large squares and gathering places, the Council has installed small concrete blocks at strategic points; these are spaced widely enough to allow people to pass through but not vehicles except cycles or motor bikes. Where vehicle access is required it is controlled.
Though it isn't terribly aesthetic looking, what price do you place on safety? |

The reality is you can provided safer spaces but you can not make every space safe. There will always be soft targets and other low tech but none vehicle means of attack. After spending all the money are we all safer or have we just moved the target sites |

Partner's kids & mum went to Spain yesterday & had a day trip booked to Barce for today, but when they arrived it had been re-scheduled to tomorrow.

This is true, the shock is that it is a purposeful act by another human. It is still thankfully very unlikely that anyone will experience this. It is no comfort to those effected. But should temper foolish responses. |

For all the devastation and carnage these despicably evil individuals have caused in their war against all that is decent in the world ...
I think the Catalan police deserve credit for their decisive intervention by killing them outright and neutralizing their potential to cause a greater atrocity ....
I hope they catch the reaming terrorists/s but if maiming them or killing them during that process stops any further risk I have no remorse for them .....

How come whenever these attacks happen it turns out that the killers 'were known to the security services'. They say this kind of attack is impossible to defend against, you or I could jump in our cars today and drive into a crowd of people. The difference being that you or I have no inclination to do such a cowardly, moronic thing. If a person is know to be a sympathiser or radical then that person IS likely to user take such an attack so we most definitely CAN cut down the potential for such attacks by doing the obvious thing and kicking out anyone, of any nationality that is 'known to security services' to have the inclination to carry out ANY atrocity in ANY country ! To me this is just common sense, fact in this politically correct world we live in, it's more important to governments to protect a minorites feelings than to protect the majorities lives !!!! |

Of course it is devistating for those directly affected and they have my deepest sympathy. The more we make big news from these tragedies the more the inspire other losers. My view point is that the more we can downplay and ridicule these moronic activities and highlight the failures, the less effective such events are at inspiring others to replicate them, the safer we all are. |
