Exit strategy

No this isn't discussing the debacle that is brexit.

Quite often we see the I'm leaving threads. I realise were all on here for various reasons, and some frequently question why they're here.On occasions things aren't going as predicted and youre planning to leave!

So do you have an exit strategy?

10 more veris and I can put this down and leave?

When my membership leaves I'm deleting?

Once I've proved I'm FAB straight I can go?

Lighthearted is preferable.

Same as when I leave the pub. I don't turn down the juke box and stand on a chair and start tapping a glass before making a speech.

I just open the door and walk out.

My circumstances changed the last time i left the place. That coupled with what i percieved as an unfair naughty step incident made my mind up.

I messaged my friends on here. Put a post up saying tara and wishing everyone all the best as you do. Went unlos within a minute.

When it stops being fun, I will leave, no drama, no look I am leaving, just press the delete button and walk away.

Will just pop the head in, say we're off. And click those UNLOS buttons. Just to be dastardly, will make sure we don't announce who it is as well.

I have no problem with people making leaving threads, even if they change their mind and decide to stay.

I mean, we're always being told on here we can change our mind at any time when it comes to meeting. This isn't any different.

What I don't like is when someone has just left and someone starts a thread about them because you always get one or two people being bitchy on those threads and the person isn't there to defend themselves and didn't ask for the thread in the first place.

I'm going to get someone to write my leaving thread for me but hope it comes across as they just love me and will miss me so much. And then join again with a different username so I can see what people really think.

If and when i leave, i will add my username to the thread, saying goodbye to all who knew me...and go UNLOS, so at least those who come by afterwards know who it is that left!

So many UNLOS, with no idea who they were.

Don't really suppose it matters though, in the grand scheme of things.

Ahh but isn't it nicer to know what people think of you whilst here as opposed to when you go?

But I do admit I'd be terribly insecure and want to know what people wrote

If we decided to leave after 10 veris we would be leaving every fortnight !

We have left 3 times in six years and on each occasion we have simply deleted our account . No leaving thread , no messages to anyone , just left and had the break we wanted .

I've come and gone on here a few times. I just inbox the ones I chat to, to explain then hit delete. I prefer to leave without the fanfare, because I know I'll come back when I'm ready

Its a sympton of seeing the same thing over an over. But i do agree a nice bye bye to them or dont bother posting. Its a free world and of course a free forum. But i do think some of the replies are unneccessary. I cant say ive noticed anyone start a completely new thread like you mentioned. Completely pointless excercise if so!

I haven't got an exit strategy and as I'm not a popular Forumite, I definitely wouldn't announce I'm leaving. I'll just leave quietly, I'm not one for drama really.

I am closer to hitting the delete button than I've ever been at the moment.

I don't get why people are so hung up on someone leaving as soon as they write a thread about leaving.

That's not what I meant. Those threads I don't see a problem with. It's when someone goes quietly without a fuss, someone notices they've gone and starts a thread about them. Those threads I don't think are appropriate or fair.

If/when we leave, we'll just simply hit the delete account option.

When you get off the bus, you don't announce to everyone you're leaving!! At the end of the day, we're all strangers but we do understand some will still want to say goodbye, probably depends on how narcissistic you are.
