How much are you worth?

How do you measure you worth as a person? Is it the amount of money you have or the value of your home? What about your job? If you're in a good job, in a good position, are you proud?
What about your family, you've cared for future generations, that's worth something isn't it?
What if you don't have children, and not contributed to continuing the human race, does that mean you are somehow less?
Charity workers, volunteers? Those that do things to help others before themselves, are they worth more?
What do you think, and how do you measure your own worth?
I agree with what I read somewhere, making people smile makes me feel worthwhile. |

"I'm a worthless piece of shit.
Well, according to an unsolicited PM I got yesterday from someone "
That's a thing that bothers me too. Does making someone feel worthless make them feel worth more?

Interesting question - but given that a proportion of bullied children grow up to be bullies, potentially yes.
My self-worth is rooted in being happy, so making my loved ones happy makes me very happy |

People are only worth as much as someone values them surely? If I'm irrelevant to a person then I hold no value to them...unless I have something they want then my value to them increases....I think?

I only feel worth when I'm helping others or when others close to me remind me of my worth to them. I think my grandiosity about my abilities to help people backfires and makes me feel like a depressed superhero who failed to save the world. When I hurt others I feel worthless...especially if I've done something that cannot be fixed. I still wear the scars of guilt and sorrow and regret from past mistakes and they overshadow all the wrongs that were/are done to me. Maybe that's why I can't stay angry at anyone for long. I tend to think I deserved their mistreatment somehow when the lines are blurry. But if the lines are clear.. watch out! I'll know and defend my worth. Verdict, not very much. I'm supposed to be saving more lives and building orphanages and feeding the poor. |

Financially I'm worth a fortune.... Dead
When I leave this mortal coil, my kids get everything, and it's enough for them to not have to worry about money for the rest of their lives, as long as they don't waste it, and if they play it smart, there could possibly be enough for their kids to have comfortable lives, but that's up to them, I've done my bit, if they waste the opportunity it's not going to be bothering me much is it |

I'd rate it on how much people live and value me and want me in their lives for who I am.
In a capital/materialistic sense I'm doing okay, and stand to be doing way more than okay very soon, but I know for sure I value people and relationships more. |

Sorry guys I disagree with a number of you.
Your self worth should come from you how you live your life etc. as well as your family and friends. They'll tell you if you've fucked up.
Not everyone will like me, I've no problem with that, that's life.

I'm absolutely priceless......
To my family. No financial recompense could replace me!!
Financially I'm worth fuck all and I don't care. I came into the world stark naked and without two pennies to rub together and that's the way I'll leave.
I don't judge anyone by how financially useful they are to me either.
I've worked for nothing, I've helped complete strangers out of the kindness of my heart.
I think I'm quite a nice person, not perfect but I have self worth and I know I'm priceless to my family and that's all that counts. |

I'm valued at twelvety four and a half points on the SWSE (Self Worth Stock Exchange), down about three hundred percent from my all time high in 2002, but not quite at the all time low of 2015 either. Could be worse |

I think I'm worth a lot.
Money wise, not so much. I see my value through the eyes of the people I love and who love me. Especially my children. How would I be able to bring them up to value themselves if I felt I was lacking in worth? |

Having an expensive car parked on an expensive driveway outside an expensive house usually means you just owe the bank a lot of money
I measure myself on my ability to go through life not being a cunt towards other people. |

And by not having kids I'm doing the human race a bigger favour.
The last thing we need at the moment is yet more people on the planet. Over population will be an ever increasing problem |

I couldn't even begin to put a value on myself. To my children and family I'd be priceless. To others around me my value is in what I can do for them. To myself I'm not worth anything.
I have no money and don't own property so have nothing of value to pass on. Though I do a lot of charitable work so I suppose there is value in that. But to repeat what others have said, you'd have to ask other people what I'm worth to them x |

Apparently I'm worth 4 weeks in a 5 star hotel in Thailand, all expenses paid ... as most of the other women here would be too I'd imagine.
In reality, I'm probably only worth a last minute weekend deal in a no star Southend B&B - in the depths of winter! If that. |

I suppose it would depend who you ask, to some if be worth my weight in gold but to others I wouldn't be worth my weight in scrap iron, it's all relative. |

Financially I'm worth more dead than alive. I have some debt but a good pension and death in service benefit that would see my family were ok.
In terms of character i volunteer in my free time and give a lot back to children and adults in my local community. I bumped into a parent of a young person I've supported before in the supermarket and he was really keen for me to pay his son and the wider group a visit soon. Can't beat feeling like you add value to people's lives and parents recognise it |

Exactly this. As for self worth...
I suppose that's down to personal achievement, if we feel we have the things we need and want, whether we're where we need to be in life, if we feel our efforts are being rewarded. That kind of thing.

I am not very materialistic. I own my house, the car I drive is newish and I have money in the bank. But I prefer to see the worth in people much more than the assets they have. |

To my family I am priceless and irreplaceable, or so they think. I think about my mortality fairly often due to various reasons, so I try to discourage this
To everyone else, who knows?
I think I value myself fairly highly. I won't do immoral things, or drop standards I have.
Material wise- hardly anything lol |
