Why women will never be equal

I don't understand why women want to be seen as equal to men when they could be so much better.

This to me shows a lack of ambition.

This is why men are better

"Shots fired!

I was reading an interview with a business owner (female) and they was talking about the pay gap between men and women and she was saying that in her experience, men are more likely to ask for a pay rise than a woman, hence, a pay gap starts

You know what it is. We're so sick of having to say everything multiple times for men to understand/listen that it's easier just to give up.

It's not that we could be so much better, we are, it's simply a case of ... there's no point in persuing it because they don't understand simple tasks or instructions when we put it in the most basic of terms. Men pffft, knocking the determination out of women since time began

Men are more aggressive, therefore bosses are scared they'll get beaten up if they refuse men payrises, hence the pay gap remains.

This is scientifcally supported by Google software engineers.

Equality in my humble opinion is subjective.

I still want doors held open for me and to cum 1st... Bags carried and generally treated like a fucking princess..

That doesn't mean I'm not a badass bitch in the workplace though, I work in a male dominated (for want of a better word) industry and whilst it's not glamorous it's bloody hard work, I was a head chef at 28 which 30 odd years ago was not as commonplace as it is now. I probably upset a lot of people for many reasons but if nothing else I've learnt that no matter how many women campaign for equal opportunities, unless you actually believe your ass good if not better than your peers, male or female you might as well be pissing in the wind..

I don't actually think I'm superior to anyone I just know I'm good at what I do and I'm happy to just be me..

Cheetah can't be same as Panther though they come from same cat family.

I am watching athletics as we speak and I see men finishing the 50k walk in 3:30 hours and women finishing after 5 hours..

We can't compare men and women.

Culture plays a part. If certain roles and jobs aren't seen as 'for women' by large parts of society then girls/young women are less likely to have the ambition to go into them.

Where I am thankful to the suffragettes and their courage, I don't think that men and women can ever be equal and I don't understand why some get so tangled up about it. We are clearly different in many ways and I would sooner embrace those differences. That said where we are able to achieve in the same way as a man we should be recognised for it, in the same way that a man who chooses to stay at home and care for his kids should be treated. I have been successful professionally and I manage a team of 100 staff, male and female, but I am still happy for a man to change my tyre, put the bins out etc

This is a nice point.

Feminism allows (some) women to supplant ambition with a (false) backdrop of oppression and an unlevel playing field.

Where cultural ideas come from is a deep and complex issue, obviously.

That women are part of a system that often says 'women don't do science' doesn't mean the system is right or that there isn't a problem to be addressed.

Switch it around and society often says men should be stoic and strong and not show much emotion or seek help - an attitude which some would say contributes to men dying sooner than women.

Does that mean that those things are what men should be, because men are part of the culture that promotes them? Or does it mean that we are all part of a messy, often illogical culture and we should work together to give everyone a level playing field?

OK so the answer is "because culture"

How does Feminism actually address these issues? Realistically? Or how can it?

Apart from some important and whiney "we need" statements

Will you be seeking quotas for the glass cellar jobs? Will you insist on a 50/50 split sent to die in war?

My view is that things are equally messy to use your apt term on both sides and the best solution is compassion and getting on with things and not division (a feminist led gender war in the media)

But also where is this system... If You wake up and rub your eyes you will see that women ARE doing science, very good science and have been doing more and more of it for the last few decades.

It is a vocation that suits certain aptitudes and naturally attracts those people who importantly CHOOSE TO DO IT

Where are these subtle or not so subtle messages that women shouldn't do science? Right now in 2017...not that 50s please.

I'm a scientist, I've been interested in it all my life and I've never heard that women can't do it.

so why do people keep bringing up the issue that theres not enough women in STEM?

Women when given the choice dont seem to want to go into stem but into much lower paid feilds such as caring, education etc

Culture plays a part. If certain roles and jobs aren't seen as 'for women' by large parts of society then girls/young women are less likely to have the ambition to go into them.

Old bean... Where does culture come from?

Do half the population have no agency?

My view is that things are equally messy to use your apt term on both sides and the best solution is compassion and getting on with things and not division (a feminist led gender war in the media) "

The fact that you apparently feel personally attacked by feminism does not mean there is an actual 'gender war' going on.

Compassion is always a good idea. Quotas may or may not be a good idea depending on the situation. I'd leave that to experts on the given field.

If you are really keen that more women are in the armed forces in dangerous roles then you should be happy about the fact that feminism is for the eroding of stereotypical careers.

So you, a man, haven't come across any discrimination towards women. What amazing proof that feminism is useless.

Google is available, and through it a huge range of articles, research, blogs, and opinions on this subject. I'd suggest reading and listening with an open mind rather than assuming that your individual experiences as a man can tell you much about the universal experiences of women.

"Women are women they can't be same as men.

Cheetah can't be same as Panther though they come from same cat family.

I am watching athletics as we speak and I see men finishing the 50k walk in 3:30 hours and women finishing after 5 hours..

We can't compare men and women. "

Do I take it the women's race passed a row of shops

Or was the finish line for the men's race at the Slug and Lettuce car park?

An incredibly idiotic analogy. And pitifully cute.

Panthers are not being paid more than the cheetahs for doing the same work. Nor are the cheetahs stuck with the kids , housework and shopping while the panther is in the pub and refusing to buy household items cos the bank account is in his name.

Tsk.

I would assume that the keepers pay due regard to both panthers and cheetahs in terms of exercise, food and medical needs though.

"Where I am thankful to the suffragettes and their courage, I don't think that men and women can ever be equal and I don't understand why some get so tangled up about it. We are clearly different in many ways and I would sooner embrace those differences. That said where we are able to achieve in the same way as a man we should be recognised for it, in the same way that a man who chooses to stay at home and care for his kids should be treated. I have been successful professionally and I manage a team of 100 staff, male and female, but I am still happy for a man to change my tyre, put the bins out etc "

No suffragette or modern day feminist ever said that men and women are equal or the same or had no differences.

It's a common mistake people persist in making.

The biggest problem I have with the equality argument is I believe feminists dont want equality. They want what men in the 20s had.

there can never have true equality due to the diffrences between sexes anyway.

another one that is quite annoting I want equality but I want the fringe benefits of being a female also.

Seriously though, I agree that the work of the feminist movement is far from over, but in certain countries and in certain circumstances it's an obsolete ideal.

I don't believe that men in Congress should have the power to chose what a woman does with her body

But I don't think mens rights should be played down or belittled either.

I believe that the rights of girls to have an education is more important than ever..

But I also think it's right that we find out why boys generally don't do as well as girls in school.

I think we are equally failing and successful in different areas. And a real beneficial solution to our gender specific problems is to help each other. And stop acting like we are on opposite sides

I've heard all the arguments, I started out as some form of a feminist (truly I'm a humanist with liberal leanings) until I began to see how vitriolic the whole thing is.

You should try to take on my arguments instead of a weak "do your research, the truth is out there" approach.

You can't discredit a valid point with a simple "oh but you're a man honey" argument.

For one, the majority of my bosses in my scientific career have been women.

Where is the anti science for women dialogue? Show us!

"I don't understand why women want to be seen as equal to men when they could be so much better.

This to me shows a lack of ambition.

This is why men are better

Don't meen to burst your buball op but to days date women have mor power than us.

How so?

We'll for a start you got femenisoum and all that stuff.

Then thar is the legal side of things....

Like if 2 people devorce hoo tends to get the better dill ..... The woman.

Never seen anything on TV wear its 50-50 or even the guy gets the better dill......

And not forgetting the dating side of things wear the woman have almost all the power as well. Hints its hard for most normall guys to even get a date.

Take this site for example......

Even if the numbers of M to F wos even on hear thar wood still be guys not getting meets.

And then thar is the work place wear 'most not all' women get the job just cos of how thay look wear us guys haf to work as hard as pos just to get a CV red.

Can u see my point... op ?

My daughter is part way through her divorce now. She gets her son. Her husband gets every fucking thing else.

"

Sorry to hear that.....

Why would we want to be equal - we are far superior. I'd like to see a man carry a baby

"But we are more superior and the men know this, hence why they push us down. There's method in their madness, for sure. We just have to see past it.

And you are happy to say you are better than someone else are you?"

Now you put it like that....no of course not! Swing n roundabouts they, hey.

See you're getting a tad pissed aren't you? The way I see it is that's your problem and how you deal with things.

I've been called a feminazi ( hahaha ) lots of times. I don't take it personally though.

I'm just comfortable with myself as a female. As you should as a male

Women who simply aim for equality with men, aren't aiming high enough

You see when one group claims that they are superior to another. They become a supremacist, and that's when the backlash starts. It's equality or nothing,

Erm no, not pissed at all, just pointing out that the statement was a bit of a double standard.

Oh, and I'm very comfortable with who I am, just so that you know, because I would hate for you to have to keep making assumptions about me, pmsl me and I'll tell you all you need to know

Well then we'll go for nothing. I've not claimed anything. It was tongue and cheek.

I find it hilarious when a man gets funny though, knowing full well that on the planet, women get such a shitty hand! But there always as to be one man that gets all boo hoo. And why???? Absolutely no need. Just another way to put us down. In my opinion.

"Shots fired!

Equality is flawed anyway

I was reading an interview with a business owner (female) and they was talking about the pay gap between men and women and she was saying that in her experience, men are more likely to ask for a pay rise than a woman, hence, a pay gap starts"

Surely I'm not the only hard working underpaid public sector employee who is fed up of hearing about the so-called gender pay gap.

I work in an industry (the biggest employer in Europe) where there is no difference in salary between men and women whatsoever. What there is is a difference in is sickness, maternity leave and childcare absence.

Along with preferential treatment for flexible or less than full time work and holiday allocation.

The final straw for a colleague of mine was when he was told he would be on call over Christmas because he didn't have any kids.

In real life the gender pay gap between men and women doing like for like jobs has been near impossible to actually prove exists.

Other competitive measures like 'average earnings' are flawed because tiny numbers of high wage earners in the sports and entertainment industries affect the figures to the point where they are meaningless.

A difference of about 10% is probably about right, to account for the likelihood of a couple of years in a career out for kids and paying a replacement..

In the real world (non-fab skewed) I think most women would be terrified by the prospect of actual equality.

"You know what it is.

You don't have to say things multiple times to men, if we say we are going to do something, we'll do it, you don't have to remind us every 6 months

Never put off going to the pub with mates tho eh

Scientists have concluded that a couple of pints with the mates is good for your mental health. They haven't said the same about fixing the cupboard doors or repainting the landing"

I have never really experienced problems as a woman, not felt that I have been held back or unfairly treated because of my sex. Just putting that out there before making my point.. Men can ask for the same, they can be the primary parent and also have these rights, but the majority choose not to, still believing that the main focus of responsibility re childcare etc is down to the Mother. Many would love to stay at home and avoid these issues and the backlash from colleagues but finances and today's cost of living don't afford them that luxury.
