illegal pollution levels

Almost two thirds of Britons are living in areas with illegal levels of air pollution.

Nearly 40 million citizens live in towns and cities where the levels of harmful nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are above legal limits.

new data reveals 59 per cent of people in the UK are living amid illegal pollution levels.

Towns and cities including Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Burnley, Leeds and Sheffield all breach NO2 limits, as do many areas of London.

In the capital alone, NO2 pollution, which is caused mostly by vehicles, is responsible for 5,900 early deaths each year.

however I see no one says anything about AIRCRAFT pollution, they drop millions of tonnes of fuel particulates across the country DAILY, & no one suspects a thing.

Deaths from lung cancer are reportedly set to double among those who have never smoked, with pollution cited as the cause.

Time to don the old mask like do in china etc smog cities here we come

So whats the air quality like where you stay?

I live right on the coast so there is very little industry or traffic activity in the area....

The air here is pretty much perfect ..... I love being able taste the sea as I breath .....

As a university town we get a lot of overseas students who come from heavily polluted cities and when they newly arrive they stand out because of the paper face masks they wear when outdoors ....

That's soon changes ....

the smell of the sea comes from a molecule called dimethyl sulfide (DMS). DMS turns out to be an important chemical found in many natural processes, such as cloud formation and the sea

It converts carbon dioxide into oxygen. That's good enough for me

But I do agree with you though, some cities are just way too polluted

haha I was once given an fish tank, 6ft x 6ft x 5ft, but its extra big as its actually diamond shape...anyway given its size thought...what be good would be to get a couple of mermaids ( I had an image of daryl hannah in my head from 1984 )

I looked everywhere, couldnt find them.

For a laugh I went to a massive aquarium place and asked did they sell mermaids?

the woman just looked at me like I was an idiot then laughed and then after us talking for a few mins, I got her number haha shame she looked nothing like daryl hannah though

Our levels in London are measured against EU regulations. I wonder, after we detach ourselves from Europe, if it's one of the regulations we keep.

I doubt that Tories want to drop that one. It was labour who commissioned the reports.

Its sad state of affairs our air is fast becoming very polluted. Poor children will be effected later in life if summit not done, but clearly no one gives it much thought
