Everyone I know who had a slatted wooden base on their beds had broken it within a year, or they moved around and had to be nailed down individually. I like a divan with a hard mattress.

With wheels they are easy to move around. I had a metal frame bed, which was squeaky but great to sleep on. The base was strong, twisted mesh like and very supporting, but the clip holding it to the bed stead broke when I moved it.

I have one of those lift up storage beds. It's a great bed but not easy to move to hoover underneath. X

Divan. A good mattress and a memory foam topped. Plus the essential water proof mattress cover

That would depend on the style. Mine was cream and gold mottled effect paint on an ornate bedstead with knobs on

I hate memory foam awful stuff, give me a normal high quantity pocket sprung any day, as much natural fibre the better, you have your back for life look after it, never by cheap beds.

I'm not buying a cheap bed or a cheap mattress.

My question is the bed base...

Slatted

Divan

Metal

Wooden

What's best ??

I've got a gorgeous cream leather button back sleigh bed which has really solid wooden slats and they're still solid despite plenty of use and I'm a big girl too. However as someone else pointed out sleigh beds aren't for everyone because of the foot piece. I'm a short arse so it's no bother but my 6 foot plus fb moaned like hell about is and had to sleep diagonal

I have a very chunky four poster made from 4x4 posts with a strong slatted base and a good mattress. It's fairly high of the floor, absolutely solid and dismantles for moving which I've done three times.

I will die in that bed.
