I was in Paris last week and noticed how many bikes there are ridden over there.
Interesting point, hardly anyone wears riding gear, with the exception of helmets |

It’s kind of an obvious statement, crashing is painful expensive and massively inconvenient. We all bloody well know that.

"I don't Evan go to shop with out gear on "
Personally, I think that if you're only going at town speeds (30 or less) then casual clothing is ok. I regularly ride my pushbike at speeds over 30mph (down hill) wearing very thin lycra and nobody thinks that there's an issue with that.
In practice, I do always gear up when I ride the motorbike too, but you see my point?

Mr here. My local BMW garage told me the story of one of their clients. AGATT always except for the last time, when he'd tweaked the bike and did a quick check, riding down his home road. Fell off, hit his head, dead. |

A helmet is different. Apart from being illegal, it's bloody daft to ride without a helmet. But that's a different thing to what wearing leathers "all of the time" |

Cal" i do a lot of town riding and will often just got out in jacket helmet and gloves. Also I have some casual motorbike boots that look a bit like converse but have padding they are alpinestars but you wouldn’t know it to look at them. If I know I’m going out of town or for a blast I have a number of motorbike trousers.
Everything from motorbike jeans to full on leathers. |

I never wore full protective gear when I had bikes.
Just an armoured jacket, summer gloves and my lid. I'd probably be the rider everyone else says gives riders a bad name.
Filter too quick, ride way too fast, over take everything, wheelies etc.
But I always had fun, except for that one time in North Wales |

Good username for that syle of riding. Saw too many people like you in the operating theatre and on the orthopaedic wards to want to ride with that attitude.
Watching Swarfega being used to clean the gear oil out of a broken femur was probably the defining moment. |

Back on the road this Friday, just bought a Triumph Sprint 955i, latter half of the summer but looking to get a few miles in and hopefully a rally or two.
And as I have read the thread, always wear protective gear but must admit when commuting to work occasionally worn trainers. |
