Depends what you're using it for. I have a laptop that's nearly ten years old because all I do is use it for word processing. And I have a desktop that's top-specced because it runs my Adobe programs, Photoshop, After Effects, Final Cut etc. The desktop has to be re-specced regularly to keep it running fast enough for intense image and video editing. |

going slightly off track here.. but would anyone know how to access any downloads on my sd card which I have in a fire tablet 5th generation I can access other sd cards which I use in my laptop, originally I got the card for free e book downloads which is possible if you have the right app which I,ve decided against haveing may end up useing the sd card in my digital camera instead now. |

a long time, previous laptop had about 9 years, nothing wrong with it when i sold it. pc also lasted about 9 years, still nothing wrong with that either when i sold it.
if you look after your IT, it will last a long time. |

Average life of a pc or laptop is 5 to 6 years. I wouldnt really look to upgrade a machine thats as old as that and put the money towards a new machine. |

you probably need some app to convert the files to become readable on the laptop. |
