How important is it to you ? when i was younger absoulutely detested it,and rebelled as much as i could, especially when my parents sent me to a swiss finishing school, haha those were the days! however now i realise it is the key to everything..

I have hopefully given my children the best education i can, although some like me were rebellious ,but they are now reaping the benefits and can quite clearly see why i insisted on pushing them as i did....whats your opinion on this?..

Education comes in all forms, the traditional british education system was a delight for my daughter now studying at university.

For my son who suffered brain damage and has severe learning difficulties but is ahead in intelligence its been a nightmare.

So for and against education here, it entirely depends on the child.

Absoulutely it depends upon the child, and im sure with your help and assistance your son will be everything you want him to be...no matter what..

I shall be forever in debt to my parents for sending me to study in this country over 30 years ago.

I was educated in Malta by a bunch of very mad nuns in my primary years and although I did well in Secondary Education in Scotland but did miss those nuns.

Probably because as a protestant in a catholic school I got to wander and do my own thing while the religious aspects of the education went on.

As I said Ive found the education system extremely positive for my daughter, but cant say that I feel education (in the traditional manner) is effective for all.

Now im going to drag out some old school photos and show them to the kids, nothing like showing yourself with a nun on a rocky beach to start a conversation going.

little house on the praire

Its not how well your educated its what you do with it afterwards. Also the most important things are not taught in schools.

Yes, obviously i think a good education is important but everything i know i learnt after i left school.

I know some people that had an extremely good education and wasted it and some that had a poor education at school that have gone on to be wonders

If the thirst for knowledge is there, a child will never stop learning and being educated.

You could send a child to a top private school or a slum school and they will either learn or not.

If they have it they will keep on and not stop when they leave formal education either, but continue to expand their education all their life. xx
