Just took me little Doggie for a long walk in the Sunshine by the River and a Family Mum Dad and two little Girls came past I gave them a Jolly "Good Afternoon" Not a Sausage in reply.
So I said to my Doggie companion in a very loud voice"Mr and Mrs Fugly were very rude what do you think?"
To which I overheard one of the girls say to her Dad"Whats a Fugly Dad?"
Am I wrong to greet fellow walkers or should I be like them...
Its not just whilst out walking people seem to be on the defensive even when out and about in general...What do you Fabbys think?? |

I think its lovely to meet and greet.
When i used to be at the b/stop going to work , there used to be loads that said a good morning etc.
And i always replied.
its todays society of ignoramouses we now have that dont.  |

to be fair since I got my dogs, I find most people I meet say Hi...
mind ya before, a big uncle fester lookalike walking around the park on his own... may not welcome many hellos. |

We found something similar when we moved here. My kids have all been bought up to hold doors open etc . We relised after standing back to allow people onto a bus in front of you is not the done thing, you just barg eveyone out the way.
Its sad what this world is turning into.

Some people just let there kids be so rude .... see it last week in tescos this 4 or 5 year old calling his mum a Big fat pig ...... ... did not say it one time to her about six or seven .. she said nothing ... I would have sorted him out she just let him get away with it in front of loads of people . Just make you think how do thay live at home ...he must be hearing others saying this too .. |

Always speak when out walking also when im stood leaning on the gate nosing everyone more or less says hello mind you some stop for ages to tell you all there business but thats what i like about living in a small town.
Jay cant get used to the fact that it can take up to an hour to get to tesco and back when i live 30 seconds away |

That's a bit like expecting people to reply to you on here just because you sent them a message. People are not duty bound to reply to your 'Good morning' especially if they've set an example to their children not to talk to strangers. |

If I'm out walking I always say hello if I meet anyone. Some reply, some don't. It's no skin off my nose if they don't - I'm polite and if they choose not to reply then that is their business.
I also live in a small village where everyone talks to everyone in the village whether they are locals or visitors.

Yes I agree with you but Mum and Dad were with them and my flies where done up and I had hidden the big bag of boiled Sweeties when I saw them approaching...Good manners cost nothing and go a long way to make society a better thing to engage with...But if some people are that precious about their little darlings talking to strangers move to Gateshead I say... |

Sometimes the opposite can make even the simplest walks from one end of village and back again a marathon. I wouldnt leave the house before 9.30 am unless I want to meet up with every single person my mother knows and end up being waylaid as they ask after her. Its nice but pensioners aren't half nosy! If you didnt say hello to everybody you pass your name would be dirt by the time you arrived at the paper shop! |
