I can't imagine for a second what goes through the mind of a person who feels they are in the wrong body, the mental impact it has and the mental adjustments of going through a transition. Should there be better support and screening?

This comes from a story in my local newspaper.

Born male, HRT to become a woman, reverting back to male, now planning on a full transition to female, at the tender age of 23!

So,it's taken a young person a bit of time and a bit of trial and error to figure out what to do for the best.No major surprises there.

It's not uncommon for people in that position to take tentative steps forward and the ossasional backward step.It is quite important to know that it is the right way forward for the individual rather than jumping in with eyes closed. It seems this person has thought long and hard and decided firmly.

Yes more support is needed but as a society we need more acceptance of the transgender community too.

I know of girls who receive abuse just walking in the street from ignorant people who nothing about them. The struggles they've faced to be able to be themselves in public.

It's a long process to transition fully with psych evaluations and counselling involved.

I've become more involved recently with Tgirl events in my area and it's great being able to support them regardless of their trans status.

Read the recent Attitude magazine for this year's Pride awards to read some amazing stories if their struggles. My friend is one of this year's recipients.

I'm concerned about the psychological effects a transition has on a person, this is the 3rd transition and they are only 23, with this amount of transitions it would suggest to me that they are somewhat confused about their grnder identity, but medical professionals are allowing the treatments for the transitions, what sort of evaluations are they doing before signing the prescriptions? I can only imagine that the mental stresses involved may only be adding to the psychological turmoil of the individual

Maybe the third attempt at transition. Who gets everything 100%right first time, every time?
