We keep getting the bareback and the condoms and the safe sex questions.. but heres a quick one to throw in the mix lol...
Ok.. your all doing the safe sex thing... but say you met someone who you knew or even suspected having even a minor std.. (If there is such a thing lol)
Your all horny... would you still play?? Safe....?

Umm, no, lol. Think the crustiness and discharges may put me off! But seriously, even a cold sore can cause serious complications, and even "playing safe" a lot of STI's can be transferred orally or front genital to genital contact. So why take the risk? All have a nice cold shower and a cup of tea, then read the forums.....  |

People with serious life threatening STDs still have sex, but use quite substantial barrier contraception. It can be effective though, of course, there are always risks.
And many people who have many partners and use no barrier contraception never contract any serious STD.
I'm sure I've seen at least one profile on this site from a person with HIV/AIDS.
Barrier contraception and attention to personal hygene are the only sure methods of reducing risks. Awareness is very important.
Probably most sex takes place either using no barrier contraception or none at all. Anti-biotics can clear most infections. Though of course with ever increasing doses as antibiotic resistance grows.
Other than HIV/AIDS, STDs are generally no longer life threatening as they were until the early part of the twentieth century.
Basically sex happens! STDs happen too! In most cases leaving little or no long-term harm. If it's gone (cured?); it's gone! It would be pointless to create a stigma for people who've had one.
All that can be done is to resist the spread where possible. Simply, don't do stupid! But it may be an unecessary worry.
At the moment, I'm more worried about a musculo-skeletal injury from heavy lifting at work, or getting hit by careless drivers.

some sti's have no symptoms so even if you do us condoms its still best to visit a clinic now and again just to be safe as more often than not sti's are transmited oraly |
