PC gone mad when you can't sing about black sheep because it's deemed racist!

Bah bah rainbow sheep? who's ever seen a rainbow coloured sheep anyway? Or a black person for that matter!

Even my 6yr old knows some of his friends have brown skin.

Baa baa non ethnically categorised sheep,

Have you any allergy free material we can have?

Yes non gender specific person, 3 bags full.

One for the person, one for the other person, and one for the small person who lives down the lane.

Doesn't quite have the same ring to it does it.

Anyone care to re-write another?

lol, that was pretty much perfect but turn the first line to:

Baa baa oppressed animal being used for it's wool

we will force you to breed then kill and eat your babies

I've just had a Google on 'PC gone mad' .. here's 11 examples from t'interweb type thing ..

Other than a straight copy and paste I haven't checked if any of these are true so don't shoot the messenger if these turn out to be bullshit in reality!!

Number 8 is my fave

1. The BBC has dropped the use of the terms Before Christ (BC) and Anno Domini (AD) on one of their programmes and decided that the terms 'Before Common Era' / 'Common Era' are more appropriate

2. The European Parliament introduced proposals to outlaw titles stating marital status such as 'Miss' and 'Mrs' so as not to cause offence. It also meant that 'Madame' and 'Mademoiselle', 'Frau' and 'Fraulein' and 'Senora' and 'Senorita' would be banned.

3. Throughout several US councils and organisations, any terms using the word 'man' as a prefix or suffix have been ruled as not being politically correct. 'Manhole' is now referred to as a 'utility' or 'maintenance' hole.

4. Loveable cartoon rogue Dennis the Menace has been given a politically correct make over. BBC chiefs decided to take away his edge in the remake. Gone are his bombs, catapult, water pistol and pea shooter - and in their place is a simple boyish grin.

5. Spotted Dick - a classic English dessert has been renamed to avoid embarrassment. The traditional pud Spotted Dick has been given the title Spotted Richard, after UK council bosses feared the original name might cause offence.

6. A school in Seattle renamed its Easter eggs 'spring spheres' to avoid causing offence to people who did not celebrate Easter.

7. A UK council has banned the term 'brainstorming' – and replaced it with 'thought showers', as local lawmakers thought the term may offend epileptics.

8. A UK recruiter was stunned when her job advert for 'reliable' and 'hard-working' applicants was rejected by the job centre as it could be offensive to unreliable and lazy people.

9. Gillingham fans had begun to fondly offer celery to their goalkeeper, ‘Big Fat’ Jim Stannard. The club, however, decided that celery could result in health and safety issues inside the ground. As a result, fans were subjected to celery searches with the ultimate sanction for possession of celery allegedly being a life ban.’

10. In 2007, Santa Clauses in Sydney, Australia, were banned from saying 'Ho Ho Ho'. Their employer, the recruitment firm Westaff (that supplies hundreds of Santas across Australia), allegedly told all trainees that 'ho ho ho' could frighten children, and be derogatory to women. Why ? Because 'Ho Ho Ho' is too close to the American (not Australian, mind you) slang for prostitute.

11. Some US schools now have a 'holiday tree' every at Christmas, rather than a Christmas tree.

awesome, bet everyone had heard that sleep deprivation can kill you?

well this isn't exactly true. the world record for sleep deprivation is currently 266 hours without sleep, the previous was 264, and many others have done almost the same amount of time. so where does the myth come from?

it comes from this study only: Sleep deprivation in the rat by the disk-over-water method .Allan Rechtschaffen & Bernard M.Bergmann. no other ways of torturing animals to keep them awake has killed them, only this method and they're not sure why exactly but they noted the rats did have additional symptoms of stress.

Chronic sleep deprivation may be required to reveal the most serious physiological consequences of sleep loss, but it usually requires strong stimulation which can obscure the interpretation of effects. The disk-over-water method permits chronic sleep deprivation of rats with gentle physical stimulation that can be equally applied to yoked control rats. A series of studies with this method has revealed little or no pathology in the control rats. The deprived rats show a reliable syndrome that includes temperature changes (which vary with the sleep stages that are lost); heat seeking behavior; increased food intake; weight loss; increased metabolic rate; increased plasma norepinephrine; decreased plasma thyroxine; an increased triiodothyronine-thyroxine ratio; and an increase of an enzyme which mediates thermogenesis by brown adipose tissue. The temperature changes are attributable to excessive heat loss and an elevated thermoregulatory setpoint, both of which increase thermoregulatory load, and the other changes are interpretable as responses to this increased load. This pattern indicates that sleep serves a thermoregulatory function in the rat. The sleep deprived rats also show stereotypic ulcerative and hyperkeratotic lesions localized to the tail and plantar surfaces of the paws, and they die within a matter of weeks; the mediation of these changes is unresolved.

so torturing and causing stressful conditions to keep something awake can kill it. but not the sleep deprivation itself.
