How much sleep do we actually need ? the most i get is 2 to 3 hours,then i wake up ready to start my day again.I stay in bed and get up at 5am.If by a miracle i go back to sleep,i wake up feeling groggy,is this 8 hour sleep time a myth,or is it the individual and what sleep they need.

Peek a boo. I'm not. I only get 2-4. But so used to it I function ok on it. About once a month I do a mega sleep that's seems to be catch up

I'm hoping individual as I'm up in a couple of hours

I put my son to bed and ending up falling asleep with him for a few hours so I'm no where near tired now

I don't think there's medical evidence that says we need eight hours sleep. I could be wrong. I think the amount of sleep needed that works for an individual is probably fine. I like to get a minimum 5/6 hours sleep.

nobody is really sure why we need sleep so it's hard to work out how much we even need.

if not sleeping isn't causing you problems then there's probably nothing to worry about.

It's so bloody earllyyyy though , its the fact that when I can't sleep there's bugger all to do in the early hours.

I've never slept well even when I was a kid, I used to do a milk round (some on here won't remember having milkmen) then a paper round before school. Nowadays I find I get 3-4 hour's then about once a week will manage a 7-8 zonk.

I think.our brains become alarm clocks.. still wide awake,mind working over time,went out to make a cup.of tea,and decided didnt like the look of me hallway,and ive ripped some wall paper off on me way to the kitchen...madness

I woke at 4 am and listened to the BBC radio Word Service. I need a lot of sleep, 10 or 12 hours suits me. I could go 24 hours just getting up to eat and go to the loo. But I do a lot of astral travelling.

i get very little - at its worst i had a couple of years of 2 hours at most almost every night - (the house never looked so good) then every blue moon id just crash for about 8 hours - dont worry over it anymore as just makes it worse
