Fake in what way? There's a real person behind every profile, unlike on other sites that create fake profiles to lure men in. |

In a way hes right...im looking at a profile now and its been verified a lot of times....i have reported it....and before anyone says how i know...well the same person was banned on the last profile...what i dont get is guys sending fake veries  |

Whatever social media sites you use, there are fakes.... Just the programme Catfish proves that. Fab is not unique when it comes to fake profiles  .
The best thing to do is try to spot, report then block the profile. Not much else you can do. |

Sometimes I feel I'm missing out. I read all these threads about fake people on Fab. I think it's high time we joined the club and caught a fake on the end of our fishing line - watch it squirm around a bit, gasping for breath before we show sympathy and chuck it back in

I haven't personally interacted with someone I believe is fake. If I'm a little bored, I'll just download some hot picks into tin eye as form of amusement. The guys Willy's tend to be faked..... A lot! |

There was one on the forums years ago pretended to be a woman. Was on for months fooling people. Very active forumite. Until we had "tineyegate" (fantastic day that was) they went nuts then disappeared in a poof of smoke. Never did find out who or what they where |

I think mobile Internet takes the credit for the decline of Fab to date. Now, people who didn't even have a computer in the past have the Internet in their pocket. Privately, that nobody else gets to see.
That's why I suspect we have so many wanky fantasists on here. Fantasy cheating on a partner, arranging meets that they'll never have the courage to go through with. But knowing they don't have to cover their tracks as they would on a shared computer.
Judging by the number who delete messages the moment they've read them, I suspect a few are still on shared computers, though. |

Fab is a great site and it can draw not so great people.
The secret to success is to use the site wisely, learn to spot the fakes etc. and make the site work for you.

It's just a shame that you have to learn to doubt people. I'm a naturally trusting person - not "Here's my bank card and PIN" kind of trusting, but "if someone says they're going to do something, they're probably going to do it" trusting. Fab membership has forced me to unlearn that attitude and become very cynical.
And it took time to figure it out. In particular, that fine line between very enthusiastic (really wants to meet) and too enthusiastic (currently wanking into an odd sock.) Initially, I'd get as excited as they were. Especially the ones who claimed they actually wanted a T-Girlfriend.
It isn't just Fab. I get Nigerian scammers posing as US Army personnel on Facebook on a very regular basis, these days. They try to get you to fall head over heels, and then need you to send money (via untraceable and unrecoverable services) to pay for flights, passports etc. It'll never work on me because I'd never give cash to someone I'd never met. But it must work on some. |
